On their myspace

"I am announcing my departure of the band Cryptopsy.

There are many reasons why i must leave the band, and this has been going on for a while now, so i am quitting.

The band and i believe it is better for me to go, so i am moving forward.

I want to thank the guys in Cryptopsy for an adventurous and crazy 10 years. It's been a great ride.

I will especially miss the fans a great deal and i want to thank all of you for you're awesome support through out those years.

Right now i need to take a break for a few months to reflect on my life and my future in music.

As far as music goes, i might start my own band next summer but i don't know yet.

In the mean time i am open to good offers and to join other forces.

Thank you very much / Alex Auburn"

Shit, after The Unspoken King, i'm surprised more from the band aren't getting the fuck out.

Be nice to see if he starts his own band or something, I might give it a look if he does.

Yeah he probably realized just how shitty the last album was and decided to bail.

But in all seriousness, he's a good guitarist and hopefully he will do something else. Maybe he could join Lord Worm in a black metal project that Worm wants to do.

Oh yeah, I forgot all about that. Now that would be an interesting thing to look forward too.

Steve told me about this a few minutes ago. It's actually pretty shocking...

As for anything else I know concerning the future of ex-Cryptopsy members, I can't say. My mouth is shut.

I'm wondering if Éric Langlois is ever going to quit. He's the only member of that band I give a shit about

Now only two members are from their ultimate line-up. (say, 2003-2004) Flo ran this band into the ground and they should just call it quits before they embarrass themselves more that they already have.

Yeah. Alex doesn't have anything to do with None So Vile (which I freaking love so much). Langlois does. Flo Mounier does too, but he's a douchebag.

At least one of the members realised The Unspoken King was a terrible mistake.

I don't think he was a primary writer on anything. OWN was composed by Jon and Flo, with Auburn on the side (I think he and Flo did the last three songs on OWN, though, without Jon). In general, it is like this:

OCD/Necrosis/Gomorrah - Everyone, basically. Dave didn't come in until the last Necrosis demo, so he didn't get to do as much.
Ungentle Exhumation - Dan and Steve. Dave probably did solos.
Blasphemy Made Flesh - Dan and Steve, Flo did a little bit.
None So Vile - Steve/Jon and Flo. Fifty/fifty on those terms.
Whisper Supremacy - Jon and Flo.
... And Then You'll Beg - Jon and Flo.
Once Was Not - Jon and Flo.
The Unspoken King - I don't know...

Wouurrrhahahahaahah!!!! i never really comment much on this band because ALL of my faith (1,00000000000000% of it) was lost after None So Vile.
but i so get it now,it's some type of alchemy, and certainly one worthy of death by public stake burning:
Cryptopsy - Steve + Flo x 2 = dried dogshit

Steve was the one who came up with all the great riffs back in their heyday. But, remember, None So Vile was written by half with Jon...
And, Flo DID come up with the last riff in Open Face Surgery.
Allow me to add that Steve also wrote and performed solos. He does the one on Abigor I know for sure, and all of the old Necrosis solos except for a few which were done by Dave Galea.

If anyone wants old footage (1993 - 1995) of Cryptopsy, PM me and you will receive.

I'm a fucking Cryptopsy connoisseur...

And, hello, 16th6toothson! I am the MySpace guy, Cullen, who brought up Slugathor to you not long ago.

and I was directly referring to tuk, if you had read my post. afaik auburn wrote a good portion of the material on the new record (along with flo), though I could be mistaken.

not particularly, no. if I disconnect it from the cryptopsy name I can just barely stand it. but like? no.

I'm merely pointing out the fact that everyone is jumping for joy over him leaving, saying that maybe he could start a bm band with dan etc etc - as if he didn't play a part, and/or a big role, in the writing of the unspoken king.

If this is so, maybe the next Cryptopsy album will sound less like Suicide Silence and more like Blasphemy Made Flesh.

I doubt it, seeing as how steve wrote the majority, if not all of, bmf.

perhaps jon will rejoin the band and get them back on their feet, after seeing how badly tuk tanked.

I don't think you guys have much to worry about

I'll leave an easily-deciphered cryptic message...

"The words of kings rule my tongue."

EDIT: Seeing as Jon was not my favorite guitarist, I will let slip that I heard a rumor a while back stating that he is currently writing some new stuff with DiSalvo. BUT, that is just a rumor, and I haven't heard anything else about it in months. But it is a glimmer of light for fans of Jon, eh?

It's weird that Cryptopsy is going without Lord Worm. When I think of Cryptopsy I immediately get the image of Worm eating worms and holding a scream for 35 minutes.

not sure what that message means, but I'm assuming that you're funeralworm on the cryptopsy forum.

I'm assuming that a former guitar player is coming back...

Quoted For Truth.

DiSalvo was brilliant on Whisper Supremacy in my oppinion, it was an alternate cryptopsy, It wasn't lord worm but I still thought the album was brilliantly written.

I dont get why they didn't have Le Croix in the band - so what he didn't speak AWESOME english but french and english are somewhat similiar languages, im sure he could have caught on, and on the other hand - Cryptopsy in French would have been fucking cool : )

The Cryptopsy of present is utter rubbish - Put enough emo's in a jar and things turn to shit.

Lecroix was a beast! I wish he could have been stayed as leas vocalist.
And as for Alex leaving its a shame because one of the last members that remembers what true metal is left.

Cryptopsy has become so horrible that there really isn't any chance of them making a comeback. Its probably a good thing that Alex left - he won't have to ruin his resume any further. Hopefully he'll take up some other project though; he really is a fantastic player.

I haven't heard anything with Le Croix (he just did the live album right..?). However, I have to agree that I would have enjoyed Cryptopsy in French... probably....

If you put past members together you could have a real good Death Metal outfit:

Vocals - Lord Worm
Lead Guitar - Jon Levasseur
Rhythm Guitar - Alex Auburn
Bass - Martin Fergusson

I think that I can safely say that I'm the only one who despises Lord Worm's vocals. However, they are definitely better than this shit that's out now.

That'd be fairly technical.
Ferguson wouldn't do it anyway, he's got a family now, and isn't into Extreme Metal anymore. You have to respect him, though.

Good to see I'm not the only one who loves Lecriox's voice. I could listen to that album all day long. While I think Lord Worm is the best vocalist the band ever had, I also think he's just a tad overrated. I also think Lecroix is very underrated. I would've loved to hear him on a studio album with Cryptopsy
