those are drawing fluid and screen filler respectively... I really need to re-read my instruction booklet about how you use the shit, because I am a fucking retard if I have been using the fluid incorrectly this whole time, which would explain a fucking lot

Anyway, tracing from paper if not the best idea in my experience as it can become stuck to the screen my the drawing fluid as it dries (though I suppose you can put a transparency between the screen and paper too).
I wish I knew where the fuck my bottle of screen filler went to, BTW... can't do much of anything without it. It seems so obvious now, the way you explained how it's used (drawing fluid, I mean)... I feel really dumb.

Filling in a logo with that stuff is fucktons easier than drawing AROUND it with the fluid, which is the retarded shit I was trying to do... and then wondering why the fluid never dried fully and got wiped away after one (or no) sorta-successful prints (that green Smiths patch was a drawing fluid one-off)...

Agreed. And thanks for the real names, much better than my "blue shit" and "brown shit," lol. My first attempt was drawing from a vector image i made of the bride of frankenstein. I printed it out, then put it under the screen and traced with a mechanical pencil. Then I painted around it with the filler, which was harder than painting the image with the drawing fluid, but I still got a good result. I started out with a speedball starter kit, then later I ordered eight more 24" square screens from somewhere online, and used those to make patches of bands and random shit.

I gave my bottle of screen filler to some asshole who never used it and undoubtedly lost it. But yeah, you just get a fine paintbrush and do the logo, then squeegee filler over, then let it dry, then rinse out the drawing fluid.

Sometimes you just get lucky. Thrift stores are a crapshoot. Sometimes you find what you need, sometimes not... Stick with it.

To me, finding, beginning, and slowly progressing on additions to a "kute" or "battle jacket" or whatever kinda gay name you wanna give to something all unique and personal and shit like that, should not be rushed... Nor should anyone "feel they need one", or be motivated by this idea to create one... But when the right jacket falls into your lap, YOU WILL KNOW.

Sometimes these things must simply wait. Having a "kewel" jacket doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of shit, but putting time and energy into a super-special one you wear everywhere ("YOUR" jacket) is a lot of fun... Don't rush nuthin'.

AM I METUL YET?!!!

Good luck. Save your money for when you can score a cheap one though.

i reckon a flannel shirt could be a good idea, when it's hot it can be taken it off and tied around the waist, the patches will still be visible.
the bag idea is cool too apart from if it's small and can't fit many on it and/or if the venue doesn't allow bags it'd have to be put it somewhere hmmmm
i've never had patches on any of my clothing

I miss my old shirt. I wore it to literal rags... The thing was in about 8 pieces by the time I accepted I just needed to get a new shirt.

Still work in progress. The pictures are low quality. The patch on the side is Anti-Cimex "Victims of a Bomb Raid"

It took me months to find. Asking around, searching, etc. I ended up finding it on the French eBay for 10 dollars. I love it.

As for bags, when I was in college I had patches totally covering my backpack as well as a big canvas laptop case. I also had a couple rows of pyramid studs on the computer case, one of those big targus ones that fits all kinds of shit inside.

Since I am out of college now, I don't carry backpacks around so much these days and all my patches are on a black hoodie.

Weekend Nachos rule and so does that back patch and vest, but it's one that I'd expect to see on the b9.

Good god, what on earth for?!

Well, to be honest, I think WN are ridiculously over-hyped and kinda lame, but the vest looks nice either way... Negative FX patch is kewl...

Don't know where to put it. This looks the best thread to me and it's not enough to make an entire new thread about it, but I made myself a fliphat today:
Image

Used a tiremarker for it. Pretty hard, because it leaks out (right word for it?) a bit. Maybe next time some textile paint?

FYI, emo was around in the 80s. Rites of Spring are considered to be the first emo band.

Haha, thanks. It's just a t-shirt cut-out, so you could try contacting the band to see if they have any shirts left if you were interested in one.

STUPID EMOS!!!

Personally, I think they are kind of obnoxious as a post-80's fashion accessory-pastiche and a cliche in the "Thrash" and HC/Crossover scenes... They are almost like part of a goofy-looking uniform... but then so are patch-encrusted jackets...

It's just, every time I see a kid wearing one these days, they seem to just be screaming, "LOOK AT ME! I LIKE VINTAGE THRASH SO MUCH! SEE HOW INTO IT I AM WITH MY GOOFY, ANACHRONISTIC HEADGEAR?!!!"

Not that I have any legitimate problem with people that wear them... or mean to insult anyone who does, much less make them feel "guilty" or "dumb" for it........ so don't take my pessimistic babbling the wrong way.

PS: What the fuck is "an Emo" supposed to be? :durr:

I have Municipal Waste and S.T. flip hats and I wore them when I was in my late teens/early 20s but now I think I'm too old for them. I feel goofy.

Of course. I'm really excited about Saturday night after Morbid Angel (also excited to see them for the first time); Tsjuder should be really cool, Haemorrhage is gonna be insane, and Winter will close out the night nicely.
