@Kevmaster I especially like those Kyuss and Electric Wizard patches. But what band is that backpatch?

If you look close enough you'll see the band name :D

It's The Devil's Blood.

I'll try to get some higher quality photos next time I post an update. (Mobile phone cam is shitty) The Backpatch is embroidered and High Quality (had to pay a lot for this one on ebay).

I am planning to make a jacket soon. I am going to try to have a Peste Noire - Mors Orbis Terrarum griffin back patch from a bootleg shirt I bought, that would be quite a nice back patch.

Finally got myself a leather jacket, now I'm working on buying patches. I have two already, and I'm going to be ordering Limbonic Art(back patch), Agalloch, Death, and Drudkh as soon as I can. Can't wait to get my jacket going!

I'm going to take the DIY ethic to another level with my vest to come. My girlfriend offered to make me a vest if I buy the materials.

I won't make the patches myself though, I lack the skill. I have accumulated some patches during my metal listening years, so I'll just put them on and buy some more if I feel like it. I'll put a big Ugra Karma cover art backpatch and Morbid Angel logo backpatch over it, I think. I wish I could get that Dawn of Possession backpatch, but I can't find it anywhere. Or a Storm of the Light's Bane patch that actually looks good.

Does anyone know of any good web sites that show how to make your own patches, particularly embroidered patches?

I'm sincerely not trying to be a jerk, but what's "diY" about getting your girlfriend to make you a vest? It's neat and all, but I don't really see how that's taking anything "to another level".

Yes, I have a sense of humor, but still!

You should google that stuff. There are undoubtedly countless resources for info on hand-embroidering... but you can't really do anything fancy without a fancy (and expensive) machine... Not without a whole lot of time and dedication, anyway.

In terms of affordably making your own shit, screen printing and stencils are a much more feasible option. Unless you have money to invest in an embroidery machine, you're pretty much stuck buying what other people can make.

I looked into buying one and quickly abandoned that dream.

haha I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's because his girlfriend is doing it and not his mom?

Lately I've been accumulating a bunch of tee shirts, and in my browsing I've come come across a lot of sick patches and now have a strong desire to start a vest... Any recommendations for where to order a decently priced black denim vest online?

Look for them on eBay and other online auction services. Just don't buy them from a store, because they cost exceedingly much.

Just bought a bunch of patches. Paid myself sick for a Dawn of Possession backpatch. The only store that had it in stock was in Australia. Cost me about 20€, but Dawn of Possession is worth it.

I've decided to have seasonal metal outerwear. By this, I mean jean jacket for the spring, denim vest for summer, a light bomber jacket for fall, and a heavy flannel lined bomber jacket for winter. I've decided to do this because I have enough patches for four, and this is a hobby that I enjoy working on. I've restarted work on the fall and winter jackets. The theme for the fall jacket is black metal. I've already sewed on a Bathory logo back patch above an old school Immortal logo back patch. Next, I'm going to sew on an Absu logo back patch underneath, then try to configure all of the smaller sized patches. There's no particular theme for the winter jacket, although I prefer to add patches with warm colors that match the red flannel lining inside. I'm still waiting on a few patches in the mail. Maybe I'll post pictures by week's end.

I still need to get two jean jackets. I already have the back patches for the one that will become a vest: Carcass logo, Asphyx logo (the high quality leather back patch done by Down With The Most High Prod.), and Dismember logo. I think it's best to figure out what back patch to use before adding any other patches. I'm still thinking about what I'd like the back patch to be for the spring jean jacket.

Hey
Here's my first post here on metal-archives
I started to build my battle coat. (since it's a winter one..it's a coat,not a cut-off version)

There's only 4 patches.
Hooded menace (doom) Chasse-galerie (Quebec black metal) and Saviours (American stoner/heavy metal)

Unleashed is my backpatch for now!

Started taking my vest apart the other day. I never wear the thing anymore so fuck it, might as well put the patches to use elsewhere. I sewed my Infernal Stronghold and Catheter patches onto a pair of shorts that needed patching and will be finding places for the rest eventually. I've got a Dickies jacket that I have a few patches on already so maybe I'll just put the rest on there.

cool story bro

The hellhammer back patch is a good one... I assume it's aslant on purpose?

I'm not sure. I think I might've sewed it on a bit weird on accident because of how the women's vest is tailored. Or I just fucked up. Either way I don't mind too much, it doesn't look too bad.

I guess it's about time I post an updated pic of my vest.. I posted it here on like the third page of this thread however many years ago it was, when I first got it and it was so new. Now it's all beaten up, got blood and beer stains and almost 100% filled up.

^ Good looking vest there. What's that small printed patch on the back, right side, fourth lowest? Wintersun?

My Dawn of Possession backpatch came in mail today. Of course the image is amazing, but I was disappointed to find that it's simply resized from the small image that is the album cover, so while it looks really good from maybe 2 metres away and more, closer inspection shows that it's not a very high resolution picture.

Not really, it is better to sew them, the ones with glue tend to fall eventually

That patch attach doesn't work at all. There are some types of fabric glue that kinda work, but sewing is the only real answer.

I got my vested signed by Skálmöld's Björgvin, Baldur and Jón Geir at Heidenfest. Their début was really impressive, so I'm glad to have those sigs.

Does anyone else collect autographs on their vest, and who have you got already?

^ That is a really awesome vest man. Love the backpatch, don't usually see Spiritual Healing. It's always Leprosy!

Got some patches for mine to go with my Taake and Destruktor ones. Exploited Backpatch, Dead Kennedys-logo, and Death-Leprosy. Trying to even out all the genres instead of my original Black metal theme.

Excellent vest^^

The Death back patch is badass! You have to be so picky for what you want as your back patch centerpiece, as it really makes the vest..
