Oh god...should i even start this? Who is better?

Barnes is a god for his guttural and his ability to write
Fisher has a wide variety of screams compared to Barnes, definately cant get as low, but still is powerful.

Chris is a hippie, George is a nerd.
Chris Barnes is also a pussy, and i doubt George would ever back down from anyone.

In my opinion, i like George Fisher better because, Chris barnes is a fucking hippie and has no balls. Just look at those dreads!
SFU is not brutal, you fuckers! Its groove! (I think).
Dont bite me too bad.

These threads aren't liked. But I'd go with George. He has a powerful voice,A good range and he's hilarious live.

They are both good but i prefer cannibal corpse when they had chris. Chris's vocals on butchered at birth and on tomb are amazing.

Yeah i know, but im just curious man...I see a "Locked" in the near future, but yeah...

I would also love to see a fight between Chris and George!

Barnes had putrid writing, which is responsible for most of the attention they got (I'm guessing), and his vocals were damned good so I'm going with him.

Barnes would be way to high. Plus he looks like he 60 lately, George would destroy him.

Another thing about George being better is that playing live George is always talking to the crowd and making jokes and headbanging like a beast while live Barnes just stands there and hides behind his dreads.

And I agree with Nolan_B all the way, Hearing George do Hammer Smashed Face is amazing. He adds his own little twists to it.

I haven't heard much of Fisher but I doubt he can be as utterly idiotic as the vocals Barnes does on SFU. Plus, anyone who tries to mix death metal with being a hippie is a complete retard.

Fisher was in Monstrosity.

Monstrosity > Cannibal Corpse

Chris Barnes was in Leviathan though..

The Barnes era has brilliant songwriting. The Corpsegrinder era has mediocre songwriting.
The Barnes era has mediocre vocals. The Corpsegrinder era has better, but slightly "meh" vocals.

I'll go for Barnes.

I'll say Barnes because of the first 3 or 4 CC albums. They've declined in the gore department ever since Vile. Not that that is all I care about, but Barnes' lyrics were so descriptive whereas George's are just meh. Plus his vocals on those old records are still very brutal to this day.

Chris Barnes has much better vocals [even with SFU and Torture Killer], he actually writes great lyrics, while now the band does it while Corpsegrinder plays WoW. Barnes has fucking sick dreads and Corpsegrinder looks like a human Diglett [from Pokemon] with long hair.

Corpsegrinder is a pussy, he has annoying as fuck vocals, and he doesn't write much lyrics. I can say he is only good live.

I wholeheartedly like Corpsegrinder better than Chris Barnes. He's one of the most powerful death metal vocalists I've ever heard. The way he goes from guttural vocals to an ear-piercing scream is amazing. Chris Barnes, on the other hand, while being a pretty good vocalist himself, is hard to comprehend, especially on Butchered At Birth and Tomb Of The Mutilated.

He doesn't write most the lyrics... the drummer and the rest of the band do.

I don't mind Fisher, but he's often a bit all over the place with his vocals. I don't particularly like his takes on Barnes songs, like Stripped raped and strangled, which I think doesn't work with his vocals, but I can't imagine Barnes being able to sing much from the Fisher era.

I still go with Barnes though, mainly because of eaten back to life and the bleeding.

There's obviously a difference between Fabio and those guys, though.

Speaking of him, Fabio got hit in the face by a bird while on a rollercoaster, which makes him awesome.

While I prefer Corpsegrinder, I have more respect for Barnes. He was a pioneer with the crazy guttural vocals, and though I don't enjoy his all that much, he inspired a lot of vocalists that I do enjoy, like Ruben Rosas. Where as Corpsegrinder just does standard death growls, albeit rather well.

This is a really tough one, but Barnes lows are just sick. George is awesome live and a pretty funny dude, with a great range. If I have to go for just raw tallent I'd say Barnes.

Where did I say anything like that? I merely suggested he shares similar hair traits with 2 other upstanding fellows of the musical realm.

Actually, yes... it does.

George Corpsegrinder Fisher ALL the way. He's by far one of the greatest death metal vocalists out there. Vile through Kill, he's a demonic monster that cannot be stopped. He seriously gives 110% on every song, every live performance, everything.. for that I respect him and choose him. I prefer his style of death metal vocals as well, and I can understand the motherfucker, can't say the same about Chris Barnes.

Im suprised this thread is still alive.

Well as far as Cannibal Corpse goes, I like the music of the Corpsegrinder era but the Vocals of the Barnes Era. However I dont dislike either vocal style really. They are both perfect singers for Cannibal Corpse. Im going to say Barnes because he was such a pioneer for his vocal style. He was also better at pernouncing through his growling. However I strongly hate Six Feet Under and I think Barnes sounds like crap with them.

I always go back and forth on this one...

I like Chris Barnes for his guttural lows (though, I do enjoy the nasally screech he employed on "The Bleeding" too). I also like that he wrote all of the lyrics (note that I'm not saying that I liked his lyrics more than the non-Barnes era - though I do, even if I ultimately don't care - I just like that he did, while Corpsegrinder does not).

As for Corpsegrinder I really like his intensity; I think his grunts are pretty solid too (I especially like their tone, if that makes any sense).

In the end, I think each vocalist is better for Cannibal Corpse for each of their own eras. Barnes was more brutal and deathly sounding, which was how Cannibal Corpse was at the time. Corpsegrinder era Cannibal Corpse is more slick and intense, which fits with Corpsegrinder's vocals.

For the current time being, I'm going to go with Corpsegrinder, but I could easily swing the other way and say Chris Barnes.

I think it's interesting to see so many people pick Barnes over Corpsegrinder; I would have thought that Barnes would be pretty hated here. I also found it interesting how many people mentioned something the two physically combating...
