What does "extrange" mean?

Anyway, black metal seems to be the closest to what you're looking for.

Not Metal but Adrenaline O.D. and GG.Allin are pretty cool if you like fast weird songs.

ex-Sleep member Al Cisneros started Om which I thought was a pretty strange project for metal. It doesn't sound like doom(but neither does HoF). I don't know what it was, maybe stoner/spiritual metal?

Try Agalloch. They're not neo-classic but they are the most atmospheric band I know of. And they have a unique style.

Gorguts - Obscura has parts of songs that get very trippy. Not to mention all the songs on this album are the definition of strange. This may not be exactly what your looking for but its worth a listen.

I recently purchased a CD from these guys:

underjordiska

May be of some interest, distorted ambient guitar work with black metal type vocals, pretty much drumless with plenty of impressionistic chord changes to get your ears into.

Mike Lerner's solo project called "direwolf", very strange epic proggressive/technical space metal combine with elements of black metal.

Another band that might not fit the description, but sure as hell are unique, are Diablo Swing Orchestra.

I'll throw in a non-metal (possible) answer - VNV Nation, a Neo-Classical Trance/EBM/Synthpop band from England. They kick ass.

If by strange you mean down-right fucked up check out Lux Occulta. Preferably the album "The Mother and the Enemy."

Si te gusta la musica maniaca esto te gustara. Saludos de Mexico.

Even though I hate them, Aarni might be what you're looking for.

Fredrick Thordendal's Special Defects.
It's pretty much like Meshuggah+Avant Garde weirdness. I think.. I have no idea. The vox take some getting used to though.

First thing that came to mind, and indeed their MA page describes them as "ambient neo-classical avant-garde" metal -- not far from your initial descriptor at all. Recommended.

the most strange band I can think of is probably black-metal/shoegaze/post-metal artist Caina. Sounds up your alley.

You may also enjoy Agalloch, jus because anyone would enjoy Agalloch
