Good band, good collection, but did you need to make a thread about it?

I remember a few guys in the chatroom that asked me about it, since I'm still have to install an irc client I've posted here

I'm not terribly familiar with this band, but it would be interesting to check out the collection, as I have a thing for old Swedish death metal. It can't be too difficult to collect all of their recorded output, that comes to about 10 songs.

Amazing band.. I will definitely pick this up, thanks for the heads up. For those of you who actually know nothing about Nirvana 2002 and thought he was talking about the grunge band, epic lolz on you. Disembodied Spirits!

The band is Nirvana 2002, a death metal band, not the grunge one.

Great news!

There will be some great old school releases coming up soon. Add Nirvana 2002 to Mandatory (early 2009 I would guess - new album is recorded and mixing is almost underway), Deathevokation (2009 sometime I would guess), Funebrarum (early 2009), and Interment in early-mid 2009. Oh HELL yes.

Ah, yes. Thank you for remembering, Uncolored. I still haven't been able to find anyone any more willing to part with the Burn edition of Bloodstone's album than I was, unfortunately....though I suppose now there's always the option of the LP redux (I'd be sort of surprised if you didn't have it already, in fact).

It is an age of reissues, indeed. The phenomenon has been gathering a considerable amount of steam outside of death metal of late, as well.

Damn all of us who hadn't heard of this band and thought it was the grunge band are complete retards right? We should just kill ourselves huh.
I wonder how many people checked out this band on the name alone like I bet a lot of people done for Incubus.

How is the recording quality of the demos, do you think it hurts the music, or helps it?

How can metalheads be such well informed like this? -_-

Nirvana 2002 and Obscure Infinity still the best SweDeath bands for me!
How I wish to see an Obscure Infinity best-of CD/LP in the near future...

I'll buy a copy for sure, thanks Uncolored! I hope you like your ORAL CD! :)
I think it was too expensive and musically they are not that good.
Booked one more disc at the letter "O" :P

Related: The Mordicus "Dances from Left" reissue is finally happening -- some Finnish webstores give a definite release date, Nov 26. Whatever happened to "Summer 2008", I don't know, but this is good news anyway.

to be honest I'm not fan of vinyl reissues of cd only releases, I hope blood harvest did a nice job anyway and if I won't find the first press I'm going to purchase it for the sake of it

last summer orvar went to edsbyn haunting for all original dat master tapes and it was a miracle that the studio (no more active) where they recorded was still there with everything!

emperor_zola wrote:

that's real hard man... unfortunately magnus (that was the band member who hold all stuff like artwork, correspondence, recordings...) passed away some year ago :(
I hope that some other band members with magnus parents find all the stuff

still haven't received the oral cd, I paid for registered mail and when I asked the tracking number 3 days ago the seller told me that he sent by regular mail, add the fact that italian postal service is a fuckin rip off and you do the math :(

The sleeve is really nice looking, but it would be nice if there was an insert. My copy has a few pops that were there the first time I played it, but I'm not sure if that's a manufacturing defect or something that happened to the record later.

Little firm called Ars Magna, last I heard. A certain well-known Swede with a short attention span is supposed to be remastering it, it seems. Makes me glad I've already got the stuff (I think the strange recording quality is part of the charm).

Yeah, it's Ars Magna Recordings. It's been announced for a while but I don't have any idea of when it's coming out.

Before the end of the year supposedly. They haven't announced a specific release date yet. It wouldn't be terribly surprising if it gets pushed back to early 2009, but hopefully not - I've been waiting on this one for a long time. (Originally it was supposed to be out spring 2008!)

Getting back to the thread topic - the N2002 collection CD is such great news. Can't wait for it. And I agree that Relapse needs to reissue Convulse's first album ASAP.

For the people that think that this is that OTHER Nirvana, leave the fucking hall and don't let the door hit your fucking ass on the way out. Either you never looked into Swedish Death Metal, or you know nothing and care nothing about oldschool DM.

As for me, I'll be buying this. Thanks for the heads up.

The quality of Disembodied Spirits (the only one I've heard) is very reasonable for a demo. Everything is well represented, and easy to hear. The quality is hardly obscured. If you're expecting At the Gates, Dismember, or other top shelf Swedish DM, you'll be slightly dissapointed. But not by much.
