Thoughts? Revelations? I personally can't wait, it's been a long time coming. They have quite an array of guest musicians too. Everyone from Ashmedi (Melechesh) to Blashphemer to King Diamond. Awesome.

Yeah. It's been a long ass time since Tara. It's interesting that it's going to be self-titled though. Could have been something a bit more creative...

I'm fairly excited to hear how this turns out. "Tara" is one of my favorite black metal albums of all time.

At first the album art sort of struck me as a tad plain, but it's really growing on me. The Necronomicon at the bottom is a nice touch. :P

The cover art is just great and I hope they're back with more furious black/thrash in old style!

Tara was a fucking intense album, and I'm excited to hear the musicianship in the new one, especially by Proscriptor. His drumming is almost too good. The heaviness and intensity of their music is just...awesome. It should be good, and Absu has always had some amazing cover art.

The cover art is horrible. As is the majority of the songtitles.

The cover reminds a puzzle of Taj Mahal I made some years ago. :P

It's going to kick ass as hell, although the long time of being away.

P.S.:

twix yesterday? What? Will the next album have a song named snickers tomorrow?

Maybe it'll have a song called butterfingers today.

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to it, I actually prefer The Sun of Tiphareth to Tara. Tara had some great moments but I thought it was rather inconsistent as well.

Hahaha, so true. That equation is an absolute law when its applied to bands like Ayreon.

What would you call Absu if Proscriptor was a crustacean?

CRABSU!

I am very much looking forward tot his new album. I've enjoyed pretty much everything they've put out, especially Tara and In the Eyes of Ioldonach.

I find it funny that the artist for this cover did a cover on a demo for a fairly unknown and generic melodeath band (Crimson Scythe).

I got the split 7" between Absu and Rumpelstiltskin Grinder.

It sounds nice!

I look forward to both of their new albums - as well as a split between Rumpelstiltskin Grinder and The Gloominous Doom.

I've got hundreds.

What would call Absu if Proscriptor was from Israel?

ABJEW!

 those song-titles are just :metal: .. but .. "Amy"? "Amy"? This must be some kind of trick!

But seriously, I can't wait to hear Proscriptor perform his magic on the drums again.

And it seems that they have somewhat left the Celtic tales of "Tara" behind, so a self-titled record might be a fitting move.

In The Name Of Auebothiabathabaithobeuee

say that ten times fast

The art is hoirrid, like some lame cheap power metal cover.

Excited nonetheless, i remember reading somewhere that there were to be pyschadelic influences on this album; cool.

I think the art is well done, don't see what everyone is complaining about. The color is tasteful and sets a mystical, ethereal mood. Very Lovecraftian. I don't see anything cheesy or cheap about it. I might check this out.

I've never been all that big on Absu (though they are a good band), but their artwork is some of the most incredible stuff I've ever seen. Just beautiful really.

I couldn't disagree with you more about the Lovecraft thing, lovecraft is usually dark and has a macabre feeling, that cover artwork looks like a cheap fantasy novel cover.
