24 kb/s! Is that even listenable?

He probably meant 220 or 240kbps

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Word count my review of Mayhem's Freezing Moon. It was completely unintentional. :metal:

As for the Darkthrone one, it's on the end of As Flittermice as Satans Spys. Can't remember what it says though.

On the cover art topic, there's the... thing from the first Burzum album on the cover of Det Som Engang Var. 'Twas discussed in the last thread of this type.

I had posted this before but on Dissection's "Rebirth Of Dissection" DVD, the song "Black Horizons" was left off the DVD due to Jon's guitar cutting out during it, but if you play the dvd using window media player and skip to track 4 I the track can be played even though a standard dvd does not pick it up and that it is not listed on the dvd set list, there is also backstage hidden backstage footage that can be viewed the same way!

Destruction's "The Antichrist" cd has a hidden track, a re-recorded version off "Curse of the gods" found at track number 66, even though there is only 10 - 11 tracks on the album the cd will let you skip forward (or backwards) to track no 66.

Well then I should also point out that all of Morbid Angel's albums are in alphabetical order (expect for Aboms, but it was written earlier)

Altars of Madness
Blessed are the Sick
Covenant
Domination
Entangled...
Formulas...
Gateways...
Heretic
*And their next album which probably starts with 'I' *

Even with Abominations of Desolation included it would still be alphabetical, because of the second letter.
Iblis the Great... I'm stoked!

Wasn't there a code in Opeth's latest album? Did anyone ever crack it?

I definately did't crack that crazy thing, but one thing I am aware of, concearning Opeth, is that the lyrics of "My Arms, your Hearse" is all just one long story, and the song titles were all chosen by whatever word was the next one to be said. I'm sure there was some manipulation involved with the band, but generally that was the idea behind it. Though, this may also be very well-known, I don't know....

Irate - 1134 (on the archive NY band)

The album title 1134 spells HELL when read up-side-down.

I was aware of Morbid Angel's alphabetical discog, although I only found out from a friend about a month ago.

In one of the (later) Sentenced albums a "drum" passage is played by one of the members slapping his ass cheeks.

Morbid Florist by Anal Cunt has a cover of The Doors' "Hello, I Love You" in the pregap of track one.

This isn't exactly hidden, but to anyone who didn't know: the opening track (Black Messiah) of the latest Akercocke album includes a spoken message that is backwards. The words (when the track is reversed) are:

"You fucking cunts. You worthless motherfuckers. I hope you fucking die. You (????). You piss like fucking shit. You fucking cunts! (????????) You fucking worthless piece of shit! You shit! You're a cunt! A FUCKING... CUNT!"

This only intensifies my wanting for Akercocke albums. As if the suits weren't enough already. :P

The only one I knew here was the Darkthrone thing. It is on "Transilvanian Hunger" on the track "As Flittermice As Satan's Spies". It's Varg saying "In the name of God, let the churches burn". That had all been posted before except I don't remember reading anyone saying it was Varg. So, there you go.

Blackdeath (Rus), album "Saturn Sector":
http://metal-archives.com/release.php?id=19502
If to read the first letters of song titles, starting from the track 6 ("Saturn Sector") upwards and downwards (excluding bonus tracks), you will get the album's name:

Saturn Sector
Annihilate Thy Forest
The Metal Flowers
Under 1 000 000 Degrees Below Zero
Return From Lilith's Cunt
Nayward Of Python's Silence

Saturn Sector
Erection of Seven Towers of Satan
Confession
The Apocalyptic Sacrifice
Obey Baphomet
Rising of the Cold Killer

More things can be found in their works if to learn them thoroughly.

songstowearpantsto.com did this, although nothing to do with metal.

The song is essentially a beat and...I think a bass line (It's been awhile since I've listened) with the lyrics being "If you play this song backwards it will sound the same" followed by that exact recording reversed.

Now that you say this, Reverend Bizarre's cover of The Gate of Nanna is followed by a long section of music played backwards. I wonder what does it sound like when played forward.

I would like to know would is mumbled during the last few seconds of the song "Deliverance of Horrific Prophecies" on the "Onward to Golgotha" album. It's said right as the wall of guitar noise is fading away.

Kamelot's The Black Halo has a hidden track when you rewind it right before it starts playing.

Yeah, its too bad, since it's one of their greatest songs... So sad that the first song on the rebirth gig got fucked up.

Heaps of really cool stuff. You can find it all here;

http://dt.spatang.com/octavarium.php

I made a thread on that about 2 years ago. Also with Dream Theater I am pretty sure the album Metropolis part 2 has riffs/melodies from part 1 laced throughout. Actually Dream Theater has heaps of hidden stuff in their songs...

Also for all the backmasked songs (metal and non-metal) wikipedia has a list; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ba ... d_messages

The Nevermore one in Sentient 6 has always been a favourite of mine.

I love it when bands put in little secret things! Shame I can't think of much more right now :S

I heard before that it is Pillard saying something like "I sang Golgotha in the nude".

On Danzig's album, 4p, Cantspeak's instrumentals are Let it be Captured played backwards. And the music for Invocation is a phrase played backwards as well.

Monstrosity on their post-Imperial Doom albums sneaks in things like grandfather clocks chiming, or glass shattering right when certain solos hit on certain songs, i don't think there is any hidden meaning, i just think they(Lee) wants to see if anyone might catch them haha!

on Necrophobic-The Nocturnal Silence (if i remembering correctly) tracks 1, 3, 5 and...another one...!? had faint whispered Swedish at the end, i don't know the Swedish language so i don't know what he's saying. Hopefully strung together they make something !?

There are lots of reversed messages, most of them aren't really interesting... Venom's In League with Satan was cool though.

Also I'm pretty sure most of you are aware of this, when you place all Maiden's reissues by each other (like books on a shelf) in the order they came out, you'll see the picture from Killers (I think... maybe it was Iron Maiden).

Yeah, and when you put the Judas Priest remasters together it creates a picture.

Its the same with Carcass' new reissues as well, the spell out 'Carcass', rather unoriginally.

At the end of a Lair of the Minotaur song (The Hydra Coils Upon this Wicked Mountain, I believe) there is a backmasked message that says something like, "Rise, shall Satan!", which repeats.

The entire discography of Curse The Dawn begins with the letters CTD.

-Caging The Divine
-Compiling The Discordant
-Crucify The Deciever
-Catalouging The Demons

I thought that was pretty neat-o.

EDIT: that's just to name a few.

If the alphabet in the booklet is the same one on the cover (I don't have a copy of the album, but I'm familiar with the cover art), then the answer is that the alphabet is the futhorc, a runic alphabet that was used by the Anglo Saxons (while the alphabet is descended from that used by the Norsemen, it is not quite the same). The runes on the cover spell out "GODS OF WAR". Click here for more information about the futhorc.

Not metal, but in Tool's-10,000 Days, if you play Viginti Tres followed by Wings for Marie (part 1) while playing (on another radio) 10,000 Days (Wings part 2) the songs kind of complete each other, which explains why the song lenght of Viginti Tres + Wings for Marie (part 1) = the song lenght of 10,000 Days (Wings part 2).

Not sure if its hidden per se, but the last track of Paul Chain's Park of Reason is actually two tracks in mono format, one in each speaker, thus making the maount of music longer than you could normally fit on a CD.

Deathspell Omega's track Carnal Malefactor has some clock-like sound in the chanting part. You have to turn up the volume very high to notice it.

Apparently "Sanctimonious" by Rotting Christ has something if you play it backwards but I have no way of testing this and would really like to know what it is...
