I thought it would be both interesting and morbid to list all the bands with %50 or more of their members dead, counting bands active and disbanded, but excluding duos/solo projects and live members.

- Asphyxiation (3/5)
- Boxer (4/7)
- Hoy no es Hoy (3/4)
- Rammpage (3/3)
- Silent Hill (2/4)

Honorable mentions:

- Black Death (5/12)
- Zelestial (5/15, of the members died during a show due to a fire)
- Goodbye to Gravity (not featured in the archives, but 4 out of the 5 members died in the Colectiv Night Club fire in 2015).
- Lynyrd Skynyrd (Obviously not in the archives, but 11 out of 23 ex-members of the band are already died)

I think those are most of the bands, but surely there are a lot missing, so any help would be cool.

There are probably a lot of older 60s/70s bands would make this list. Also, I'm not sure how many of the original Ramones are still around?

All four original Ramones are gone now. Marky is still alive, however, along with all the later ones.

Absolutely fascinating and unbelievable that a band that formed 54 years ago would have dead members. This is some top-notch research. Can't wait to hear your report about the status of Robert Johnson.

^ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I think, in all fairness though, we should limit this question to bands that formed on or after a certain cut-off date; perhaps 1980 or so.

Manilla Road's had quite a few, though they also had so many lineup changes. Shelton dying really nailed the coffin though.

Samson had 2/3 last I checked.

sticking to only metal bands gives a nice natural date

Sodom have 3 former members already dead, which is quite a lot for a band of this age. But they also had a shitload of members throughout the years.

Also, Carnivore has 2 key members dead.

Megadeth have lost 2 drummers, and I'm pretty sure that Mustaine has been clinically dead at least a couple of times.

Pantera (2/4)... unless you count their original singer than it is 2/5.

I immediately thought of progressive rock and metal band Magellan which released some truly great records like Impending Ascension and Hundred Year Flood. Even the last few singles, though criminally overlooked, were quite decent. The band was centered around brothers Wayne and Trent Gardner. The former committed migraine related suicide in 2014 and the latter died only two years later in 2016, thus ending the band's career. I would like to see a compilation of the band's final eleven singles as a proper studio album.

Didn't someone ( I think maybe droneriot?) make that same joke the last time one of these threads came up.

Either way, this is exactly what I thought when I saw the thread title

I didn't see the last thread like this that was made. Therefore, no one before me has ever thought of this joke.

Not to mention one-man bands, such as Nidhoggr, there are two bands that I remember right now (both of which aren't on the archives):
-The Mamas & The Papas, folk/pop rock band from the 60's, only one of the band's members is still alive today;
-Mamonas Assassinas, brazilian band, all members died on a plane crash.

Almost forgot, remember that Romanian metalcore band Goodbye to Gravity? 4 out of 5 members died in an indoor firework accident https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodbye_to_Gravity
