Four years since their last album, which is a long time compared to how often they used to release new ones.

I had never listened to these guys prior to this song, but I like the Spheres vibes here.

^You really never got around to them? They had a lot of hype for a few years.

I have never been very fond of Horrendous' psychedelic-infused sound, but the added progginess here is intriguing. This will merit a fuller listen when the album comes out though I still doubt this will make me a fan of theirs.

wasn't a huge fan of their last album, but definitely curious to see where they go.

Can't listen to it at work. Are these the guys with those really weird guitar solos or nah?

Yeah, totally. Back in like 2013 they were all the rage. It has died down now thanks to the gap of releases, but they're definitely a good band.

I'm surprised at the backlash to Anareta. I thought it was alright. Granted I haven't listened to Horrendous in a bit but I liked it.

This song sounds okay. Started off a little low but it picked up throughout the song. I can also hear the very prog-infused direction they're going in, which makes the vocals stand out a little more than they probably did in the past. With that said I still think this album will be very good.

Four years since their last album? Anareta came out in October 2015, less than three years ago.

New song sounds alright, definitely proggier and busier than Anareta. Quality aside, it's kind of weird how hype seems to have died down for these guys. After Ecdysis people were talking like they were the next big thing in death metal. Now it seems like most people are generally curious about this new one but no one's really splooging over themselves about it.

Yeah they're hit/miss with me. I did like the last one, but it wore off after a while. Talented lads though.

Man time flies. I still remember when Ecdysis came out so clearly....great band can't wait to check this out.

I am strongly looking forward to this one. I have enjoyed all of their past releases and listen to them fairly regularly. Anareta was their best I would say--a fantastic album that provides plenty of enjoyment every time I hear it.

Umm... I think that's a different band.

Yeah, it really wasn't that big of a gap in between Anareta and this one.

Loved both their last two albums. Been a while since I played them though.

This new song sounds much more proggy. Sharp, killer riffing though. I can tell it'll sink in over more listens. Very involved, complex structure...

Been a huge fan of them since The Chills. I don't know what they're trying to do here though. Guess I'll have to wait for the whole album to come out. I still consider Ecdysis to be their finest work.

I remember listening to the Sweet Blasphemies demo in school, my mate bought a copy and we had a listen to it. I thought that was a great demo, but I'm not liking this more progressive sound at all.

True. But three years is also the same amount of years in which they released all of their previous albums. Ecdysis and Anareta were released in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Huge fan of Ecdysis here. I enjoy the earlier stuff too, but think that Ecdysis is their best release so far, by a large margin. Anareta was OK, but I rarely revisit it.
Not sure how I feel about this new track, sounds more "techy" to me. The heavy metal riffs found on Ecdysis seem to be lacking on this song.
Didn't even know they had signed to SoM.

They really did the Death/Pestilence speedrun, didn't they.

(Actually that's not fair, as Pestilence went proggy pretty fast too. But jeez, I was just listening to The Chills yesterday and now this new song sounds like a wacked-out cubist version of it. Not bad, though. I've never been too emotionally invested in Horrendous so whatever they do is fine with me and I'm sure I'll continue buying their stuff.)

I've loved everything they've done, didn't even know people hated on Anareta, that doesn't even make sense to me.

This song took a couple of listens to sink and I'm now fully excited for this record.

Have to revisit the debut. Never really clicked with me - not sure I gave it enough of a chance. Might put in the car for rotation for a week.

Another song just dropped today, "The Idolater." I'm a big fan of everything they've done (especially the weirder prog stuff) so I'm a bit biased, but I dig it.

Hell yes. Horrendous still doing great! The Idolater is great.

Hoping for a headlining NA Tour, but I'm not sure if they are big enough yet. These dudes are so damn happy on stage.

Clean singing....interesting. That and the screechy, inhale-ish vocals. Seems this song is experimenting a bit which is cool. Good choice to release as the 3rd single.

i'm a big fan of ecdysis, and like the other two albums a lot as well, but these preview tracks make me a bit skeptical about this one - they seem to be going for a proggier sound than before, and have lost a lot of the fantastic catchyness in the progress. i'm still looking forward to the album, but i don't expect to like it as much as their previous material

I like what this band has written... I just wished they played the material a lot faster. They're like a slowed-down Death in my ears and I keep wanting them to speed the riffs up.

After one spin, the new album is ok to me but not as good as their previous work. Maybe it will grow on me but it hasn't lived up to the hype for me yet.

i actually think i liked it more than anareta, but so far neither touches ecdysis and the chills for me.

i'm getting the same kind of slightly lukewarm feeling that i did with anareta, and i expect this to grow on me just like it did

ecdysis is still their sole masterpiece in my eyes, while the other 3 are merely great albums
