As said in the title, I am looking for black metal bands that have 8 strings guitars. I already know that Batushka and new Bethlehem are using that kind of guitars, does anyone of you know more bands?

Ihsahn is using 8 strings on album "After", and maybe on later albums as well. (can't confirm 100% by ear, as I weren't listening to these records recently because dynamic range compression ruins it for me)

I'm nearly certain about 7 strings, but 8 strings, I don't think (one has already gave me Insahn on facebook)

On Arktis he uses 8 string guitars, but i would hardly call that (and the rest of his solo material) black metal

By the way there are videos of him talking about why he switched to 8 strings

And Batushka are black/doom. You're not going to get that much straight-forward black metal with 8 strings because it doesn't really fit the genre.

I am looking for everything in black metal, so every subgenres are fine, as long as it have 8 strings guitars, which seems to be very rare

It's more about the heaviness and general pace that is slower than black metal

That doesn’t mean there’s doom metal riffs. Batushka isn’t even that slow.

But not that slow, it's quite mid paced, but except for some parts, it's just black metal for Batushka. If some put them under the black/doom label, fine, but it's more of some slow and heavy parts within black metal

I believe Almyrkvi use 8 string guitars. They're awesome anyway but they could be someone to look into.

Guitarist from Portal, Horror Illogium uses 8 string guitar based on some live videos and also has one in his profile picture here in MA. Also, im just guessing or I remember wrong, but KzR from Bölzer occasionally uses them too?

Edit: Yeah, Portal isnt really black metal, my bad.

throw a malfunctioning jackhammer inside a malfunctioning tumble-dryer to get a sense of what 8 string tremolo riffs would sound like.

You don't play all 8 strings at once.

Last album was good. Can't see them fail now.

The Landser style cover, choice of name and colours would suggest that their experience in North Anerica didn't change them.

While the guitars arn't 8-strings...the Aussie band darklord used custom twin neck guitars with a neck of increased scale and tuned at least a full octave lower than a standard 6 string.

Doom metal doesn't even need to be that slow. At least a few of the songs on https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/B ... ath/568673 or https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/P ... of_God/801 aren't really slow for example.

Amazing and criminally overlooked band. Someone needs to reissue their stuff on cd.
