I know there is a thread about "Lords Of Chaos", I did a quick search and didn't see anyone mention this in that thread. Has anyone else read this book? I purchased it hoping to hear some cool stories about the early years of Metal Blade. Boy, was I disappointed. Not only is it an extremely dry read, I could not believe how elementary the writing and "storytelling" was. I don't know if I've ever read a book/autobiography where LESS happens. The stories seem to be take less than 3 sentences to tell, there is no depth to any of them.

There is no doubt Brian is a godfather of metal, and he seems like one of the best people around the genre (and music business as a whole), but I was shocked at how bad I found this. There even was a co-author, Mark Eglinton who has done some other heavy metal literature. I haven't read any of this other work, so I can't cross-reference.

One thing I will say; the foreword done by Lars Ulrich is better than any part of the book. Love him or hate him, I feel like Lars would write a great autobiography. His memory seems razor sharp, and he loves talking about himself. He also seems so passionate about whatever he takes an interest in.

Who would you like to see release an autobiography from the metal world?

I read it. I wish he would've talked more about all the bands I care about : fates warning, helstar, warlord, flotsam, etc.

Rob Halford. Maybe James Hetfield.

Did you find it to be pretty empty, as well?
