I was never the biggest Twisted Sister fan, aside from rocking to their hits back in the day.

This is.... unexpectedly good. Had no idea he would fit like this in a "proper" heavy metal band.

Blabbermouth article

Stream a song preview here

The song snippet sounds pretty cool. The guitars are dark and heavy.

The track previewed above is now streaming in full on youtube, with the release date set at September 7.

He actually sounds incredible for his age too. He still has lots of power.

Should be a new EP out this year. It's halfway done now. Depends on label release schedules and plans.

Looking forward to the new Sear Bliss album Letters From The Edge. They already teased the album's closing track and its another really good emotional atmospheric track that this band is really good at pulling off.

From that track it seems to be kind of in line with their last one doesn't it? I truly miss the days of Glory and Perdition/The Arcane Odyssey...

 ...not really? This is a lot more straightforward sounding than their last album. And it's not like they haven't made tracks like this in the past. See "God Man" or "Blood Serenade".

Eh, I get what you mean about Blood Serenade (fucking love that song!) but I still feel like the new song is a lot more "modern" sounding and, like you say, straightforward. Sorry, can't find the words right now to describe the differences I'm hearing...

Granted I haven't heard Eternal Recurrence in years so I might've just pulled that remark out of my ass, though I still feel like Shroud sounds more like something that could've been made by Klabautamann than Sear Bliss themselves. I miss the constant trombone barrage and the rage on Nagy's voice. On Shroud it just seems too "happy sounding" and not tense enough. I don't know, something like that.

Cast the Stone, featuring Derek Engemann of ex-Cattle Decapitation and Scour fame and Mark Kloeppel of Misery Index. This came out quite good

I really like it. Overall, a definite improvement over Blood of Legends, imo.

The title track is insanely epic. Those riffs are just insane, especially at 10:37. Honestly WOW.

I can't stop listening to it. My only fear is that it will be one of those albums where the rest of it can't live up to the preview track. Their first album was excellent though so my hopes are high.

The second single was good, but nowhere near the title track yeah, so I can see that worry. But, I think the whole album will slay. I asked the band if the rest was as good as the title track and they said they just jammed each song with as many riffs and melodies as possible, so I think it'll be great.

So apparently Unanimated announced a pre-album EP to be released on the 10th of August on Century Media. I guess the "three disc deal" just turned into a "let's release an EP to see if people spend money on this band, the album later on to milk the hype and then a) it goes south and we release a compilation to cut the deal, or b) it goes well and a second album is released" type of thing. At least that's how I'm reading it, and yeah that was a long as fuck quotation but I guess it makes sense to be written like that.

On a different field Tantara is also back from the dead and aiming for a September release of their sophomore album. New song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwNMniR455U

Russian pagan metal band Svarga announced a new albom (Черная Падь) for this autumn. I am really excited about this one. They haven't released anything major for years now.

It will be interesting to hear how Funeral Mist manages to stand out in this age, where a legion of black metal bands strongly influenced by Funeral Mist's innovations have crafted styles of their own, and now the dust has been settling for a couple of years, and even those then-new styles are starting to become stale.

Mortuus has been quite busy, releasing two major albums in the same year.

I am just now aware that Mark Kloeppel of Misery Index is in Scour now?! Jesus Christ, Anselmo, the cousins Jarvis, Engemann and Kloeppel together just made Scour's next EP my most anticipated project at the moment. I remember talks a while back the plan was 3 6 song EPs a year apart from each other so hopefully soon.

Khanus finally announced a full-length and the first track is extremely promising. I love it when weirdo bands don't feel the need to make long songs.

Hey, I'll have you know that there's only a *few* long songs on my next album. Most of em are in a respectable duration!

Here's hoping for some new sounds. Grey Heavens was a dull affair. Still excited for it though!

Grey Heavens was weird, yeah. The Pit is an awesome opener, and then you have Frontiers, Ophidian Sunrise and especially Stormfront (one of the best OG songs ever), but there is a huge dull spot in the middle of the album. I do hope the new one gets them back on track. I've talked to people who have heard it and they all say it's amazing, so...here's hoping.
