Took some time to compile a list of all the ones I could think of/had in my collection. A great deal have already been mentioned of course, and those are among the list below. But I came up with a good stack that I don't think have been noted yet. Also, not all of these are metal either, but since I was compiling the list and going through my collection, I felt it was necessary to include them all together, and in hopes to perhaps turn someone on to something they've never heard before.

I call it a thing that should not be on anyone's list of favorite anything ever.

Two that come to mind are:

Cradle of Filth- Vempire: I know it's been mentioned a bunch in this thread. I love this EP. It's so well put together, and it has the distinction of having Queen of Winter, Throned; possibly the best song they ever wrote.

Perpetuate-S/t: This is the only record they released before breaking up and I thought it was awesome. I was really looking forward to what they could do on a full length.

In Flames - Subterranean. Clearly their best release with some great vocals by Henke Forss.

Katatonia - Sounds of Decay. Fantastic songs in the BMD vein, and Åkerfeldt does one of his best efforts.

Sorhin - Skogsgriftens rike. One of Sweden's finest, and equal in quality to the great Apokalypsens ängel.

Dark Tranquillity - Of Chaos and Eternal Night. My fav DT along with The Gallery.

Mundanus Imperium - Ode to the Nightsky. Forgotten gem of melodic Norwegian BM.

Abigor - Apokalypse. Furious drumming, frantic songs. Fucking awesome.

Dark Funeral - Dark Funeral. Open the gaaaaaates...SATAAAAAAAN!!!

Other great ones include Aske, Blood Must Be Shed, Where Dead Angels Lie, Reign Forever World, Hordanes Land, Emperor, Return to the Apocalyptic City, For Funerals to Come...there are so many!

Very relaxing. I love mix of the vocals. The sound has a real warmth to it - ironic I suppose.

Wow, a mention of Hermodr! I've been meaning to write reviews of all his releases; problem is he keeps releasing new stuff before I can actually get started... Can't express how much I love this guy. And he's put out lots of EPs but I would say that Forlorad is my favourite. He has mastered that sort of wistful black metal that really hits the spot for me.
