The last remember of the classic Motorhead lineup died. RIP Eddie.

I heard the news and then listened to Overkill on my way to work. As corny as it sounds, the music really takes an otherworldly quality when you realize all the musicians that played it are gone now. Gives me the same feeling I get listening to the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

I agree. And yet – another admittedly corny statement – they aren't entirely gone. n/p: Capricorn

Unbelievable news. I was just mourning the loss of Alfred Morris III (Iron Man) already today, and then this happens.

Eddie Clarke was a great player and a real riot of an interview, listening to him tell stories of life in Motorhead was always a ROTFL experience.

Getting old sucks.

To me, his unique sound and sense of style was the absolute highlight of Motörhead's most iconic and classic era, and that's fucking saying something, I mean, geezer played next to Lemmy. Rest in peace, you legend!

I love the other "classic" lineup of with Campbell and Dee, but man listening to Bomber Eddie Clarke's playing make that sound so distinctive. The flowing lead work is just wonderful and full of soul, character and power.

This was also an absolute fucking bummer to hear about yesterday. I played the first three Iron Man records and his tone really matches Iommi in a way that every so-called Sabbath clone just can't. If the specter of death could just leave the Maryland doom scene alone for a while, that'd be fucking fantastic.

Also took the opportunity to listen to Fastway for the first time this morning. That first album was pretty solid.

The second original Tres Hombres. Certainly one of the best power trios in rock, anyway. At least he has achieved immortality with his Ace of Spades solo and those bends on the outro.

God, after Chris Tsangarides I'm really worried at what 2018 has in store. Is it going to be a metalhead's 2016?

Very bleak...

Just played through Overkill, which is still my favorite from them. Such a great, raw, exuberant and exciting album. RIP, guys.

Just checked the metal archives page. Of the six people who worked on Ace of Spades, five have since passed away. That was heartbreaking to read.

I'm a great fan of Motörhead original or classic lineup and Motörhead's albums released from 1977 to 1982. RIP Eddie Clarke. :(

One of my favorite guitarists, and a damn fine singer too.

This year is off to an extremely shitty start.

This year won't get any easier. Our heroes from the 70's and 80's are all pushing 60, if not the wrong side of it already. The boys in Maiden will all be at least 60 this year. The boys from the 80's Bay Area scene are all pushing 55. These guys didn't have normal lifestyles, and it always catches up with you.

With that in mind, guys like Ozzy, Bobby Blitz, Cronos, Jeff Becerra, Gary Holt and Dave Mustaine, all of whom had wild lifestyles, are all somehow still alive. I hope we can say the same thing in another five or ten years.

That picture is painful indeed. When faced with bereavement, nothing hurts me more than absence - the empty chair, the vacant room, the clothes that will never be worn again, etc. and that picture exemplifies just that.

Sad to hear. Like many of you I've listened to those classic Motorhead albums countless times over the years and for them all to now be dead... it's a sobering thought. Can't say I was a big Fastway fan - kinda gave up on them after downloading the Trick or Treat soundtrack and it was pretty flimsy - but Eddie was always gonna be remembered for Motorhead anyway. Will no doubt crank a fair bit of it this week.
