The work which transforms god is their best album along with dialogue, I hope they play something in that style. Last album wasnt that good.

Thanks for that. This definitely isn't the usual BaN record! It sounds to me like some kind of middle ground between the slow, almost EBM plods of 777- The Desanctification and the confrontational murk of MoRT. It has some of the typical BaN transcendent atmosphere, but subordinated to the darker and deliberately off-kilter. 'Impius' has to be one of the nastiest, most harrowing songs he's ever written!

I like it. It isn't mindblowing like I like to expect from Vindsval, apart from the aforementioned track. The first proper song of the album in particular is a bit of an unexpected slog for example, like a Desanctification groove without the spark. Looking forward to spending more time with it though.

Haha. Thanks man - looking at the translations, they look very straightforward so I probably should have been able to guess like half of them...

Ex tenebrae lucis means "Light from the darkness".

And it's not written right. It should be "ex tenebris lux". (I know, I should say that to Vindsval himself...)

Not an expert, but i think it can't be "lux", as in the way you want to translate it, it has to agree with "ex".

But isn't it just an inversion of "lucis" and "tenebrae". Latin can have this kind of words' inversion.
Then it would mean something like "outside the light of darkness" or "outside the dark light".

Nope; if it means "light out of darkness", Divider's translation is accurate, as it's "tenebrae" that has to agree with "ex" (hence the ablative "tenebris")."Light" is the subject, therefore the nominative "lux" is correct.

"Outside the light of darkness" would be "extra tenebrarum lucem". I'm afraid Vindsval's title is grammatically unsalvageable any way you slice it.

This album (like other BAN's productions) sometimes makes think of a modernized version of Anorexia Nervosa's first album Exile, which has been in my opinion very influential, and is still very underrated.

I'll have to give that AN album a shot. I loved their symphonic work but never really tried their first album but you making that connection intrigues me.

Actually, Anorexia Nervosa's first album is so different from their other works that they should have change their name with their new line-up. It's like two diffrent bands! On Exile, they play a kind of twisted and disharmonious industrial dark/death/black metal with occasional depressive gothic-rock sections and ritual indus/ambient transitions between the tracks. Another similarity with late Blut asNord is that Exile is a concept-album with a construction in "cycles". It would be interesting to know if Vinsvald has been influenced by this work.
Anyway, you should definitely give it a try!

Yeah, I wondered why they kept the name but that sounds fucking awesome and right up my alley actually.

As far as a metal release goes, this isn't really that metal. I'm finding the sound much more akin to dark atmospheric pop than metal. I could see Radiohead and Tori Amos fans being into this. Musically, quite enjoyable though for a Sunday afternoon looking out the window into the woods.

I was thinking the same. This new BAN album sounds like something which is beyond metal, or more in the post-metal sphere.

The above posts confuse me... not that metal? It's crushing industrial madness in vein of N.K.V.D. I can't imagine any Radiohead fan being into it.
