What were they thinking adding 'fuck' in the album title? Aren't they going to have more trouble distributing this because of it? Not too smart.

Yeah, a band called Dying Fetus will suddenly get banned by record shops because they used the word "fuck"...

I look forward to the new album. Dying Fetus are really good at that sort of knuckle dragging death metal that just hits the spot sometimes. They're overall a pretty consistent band so I'm sure this one will be solid too.

There is no profanity in the band name 'Dying Fetus', no comparison at all.

lmao, yeah dude. As long as you don't swear, the title can be literally anything. They should've named the album Defiling Preschool Vulva instead so they wouldn't run into any problems. :wanker: :wanker: :wanker: Definitely more tasteful and mainstream-viable, because it doesn't have a word in it that everybody says 90 million times a day.

Can't tell if trolling or serious?

How is it trolling? Its a lame album title and like someone else mentioned in this thread it sounds like something a nu metal band would use. They seriously couldn't have thought of something better to use?

In response to the guy calling it a nu-metal album cover: please direct me to any nu-metal where the primary visual influence is macheteing someone's face off.

This album better be damn good for all the blue balling they've done. Induce Terror has been played live for over a year, it's been nearly a year since they made that teaser video for this album, and not to mention it's been 5 years since Reign Supreme. Then they reveal the artwork only with nothing else. Bands need to stop teasing new albums the second they write a new riff

Nothing about the artwork is nu metal looking, its the title that reminds me of nu metal. That is also probably what the original poster meant as well, I actually like that they are using their old logo, they never should have gotten rid of it to begin with. The artwork itself isn't that great but they have had much worse covers in the past, see the one below for an example

Kind of surprised to see all these references to Dying Fetus being "Neanderthal" or "knuckle dragging" death metal. Granted I'd hardly call them thinking man's music, but their technical ability and socially conscious lyrics always put them head and shoulders above bands like Jungle Rot, for example, who I'd consider much more representative of the "Neanderthal" sound. Though I guess they're not doing themselves any favors with this album title. I actually like it though - blunt and no BS.

Anyway, pretty excited for this one. Saw them live on 70000 Tons earlier this year and the new songs (think they played 3?) kicked ass. Likewise, after this announcement I went back to Reign Supreme and rediscovered how great it was. "In the Trenches" is a such a lurching beast of a track.

The title goes hard against what most other bands with their stature and sound "should" or are expected to call an album in 2017, so-called maturity and all that... and that seems to me like the intention or at least a significant part of it. It's very anathema to the new Suffocation, which is coincidentally unlike anything THEY'VE done before.

There's a lot of brutal death and grindcore bands to this day that continue to use more egregious titles, lyrics, and imagery. Why Dying Fetus, of all bands, should get any flak for bringing back some of that attitude doesn't seem fair. Considering how more technical and musically proficient they are than ever, the potential juxtaposition is very intriguing.

Not to be "that guy that heard a rumor," but I am that guy and I heard a rumor that there is a very specific reason for both the cover title and artwork.

Wow, they must really love that album title to plaster it over all of their merch. Also, I've never seen metal merch take a stab at the ugly print-all-over shirt style... well, not official metal merch anyway.

You must not follow Incantation very closely. They've been touting the print all over shirts for years now. They have several. They look cool, but they definitely aren't very common. And are pretty expensive. Think the Incantation ones were running $30.

You're right, I don't :-P. Some of these look pretty ugly, but others aren't so bad.

Now that I think about it, Bodom also has a couple of all-over shirts. This one actually looks kinda cool, although I'm not sure I'd wear it past high school:

I agree with the Deathstalker guy, using "fuck" in the title is pure nu-metal.

This could end up being my favorite album of theirs if that song is any indication of how good the rest will be. My expectations were already a tall order considering how much I liked "Reign Supreme" and still do. It's all there but with the dial turned up even more, if that were even possible.

Video for the second song on the album, "Panic Amongst the Herd." Not a performance video this time, but a living collage set to the music. Kinda weird and abstract for them, but it fits. Reminds me of something that might've been done in the 90s (and perhaps it was for all I know.) https://youtube.com/watch?v=PRnBMDiTWpE

Of course it's a ripper of a cut. Bookended with slams on both ends and a bunch of changes in between. They packed a lot into it without going into one ear and out the other. This really is shaping up to be a monster and not merely another "standard," for lack of a better word, album from them.

I thought the second track was pretty sweet, but this new one, much like the first, is kind of underwhelming for me. There's a riff I thought was pretty nice, kicked in around 2 and a half minutes through the track, but the rest of it was pretty much a case of 'in one ear, out the other'. Hopefully the other tracks are more in the vein of the one they released before this.
