Realize these bands are both "fringe" (ie. not metal but close enough) but I am super stoked that both Unsane & Quicksand have new albums coming out:

Bloodstrike's second album, "Execution of Violence," should turn out to be an enjoyable slab. The heavy Swedeath influence on their debut, "In Death We Rot," is still very present but it'll be slightly more concise and better produced overall thanks in large part to JB Van der Wal's mixing and Dan Swano's mastering.

Here's a cut: http://bloodstrike.bandcamp.com/track/creeper

Nice, had no idea there was a new Aosoth out. Their last release was dope.

Another latecomer that could be album of the year. Ketha are releasing their new album on November 17th, called 0 Hours Starlight. I have loved everything they've done so far, so if this is more of the same, count me in. No more solid information yet, but I'm absolutely keen.

Slovak melodic/power metal band Within Silence will be releasing their 2nd album soon and just posted their first single. I really enjoy their debut album and from this song, I suspect album #2 will be great as well.

Slave One - An Abstract and Metaphysical Approach to Deceit

Image

Interesting death metal. Riffs are really cool. They have a dissonant overtone to them - think if Ulcerate's guitar tone was polished up. The riffs are backed by more modern death metal drumming and vocals, but the whole thing sounds somewhat unique. Definitely one to keep an eye on, and I'm going to look into their previous full-length, too.

I enjoyed it, as well. I still haven't checked out their previous stuff, but once I get paid I'll probably order this one. :) As for The Lions Den, I think so, but I agree that he posted some pretty decent stuff in this thread. Not to worry - you seem to post equally as good stuff for me to check out, anyway. :)

With the flamenco tag, I just had to check this out. I quite like it. The flamenco isn't as prominent as I thought, but this is some interesting music.

Another great find mate! Thanks! Again... sleep much? :p

Death metal does not need a shot in the arm this year (Immolation, Artificial Brain, Benighted, The Ominous Circle, Hideous Divinity, Engulfed, Dyscarnate, Excommunion, ...) but this little EP is really cool. I'm a sucker for anything that reminds me of Ulcerate and/or Gorguts, so, yeah!

Also, love the artcover!!

Yes, I am looking forward to this as well especially coming on the heels of Well Intentioned Virus which was a fantastic album. I do not mind a more frequent output from Zao at all...

I hope this old school grittier sound makes a comeback now that the modern metal/deathcore scene has sort of fractured & diversified.

I'm forgetting the exact date but a new Converge album is in the works as well. I'm glad we have some killer heavy music in an year where everything else is going to complete shit.

^The new Converge comes out November 3.

---
Today, Savage Messiah released a new song called "Wing and a Prayer". Their album is out on October 27.

This song sounds like it was intended to be a single, and I mean that in both a good and a bad way. Catchy, yes. Cool solo, yes. Otherwise, standard heavy metal fare. It seems they are losing most of the thrash elements they still had on "The Fateful Dark"... but who knows.

I would bet my balls that Necromaniac - Subterranean Death Rising EP will land in my 2017 top 10...

Morbid Metal was a killer demo + there is a mighty The One in the band. Cant wait for it!

That was absolutely terrible. Not even the same band that made The Fateful Dark.

^ Century Media strikes again. I had my doubts when they signed and the artwork and songtitles were released, but these two released so far killed any expectations for the new album. Another band “evolving” and “maturing” by rounding off the edges of made them actually interesting.

Anger Mismanagement sounded so much fun & ott but this one seems a bit lacklustre & honestly, somewhat generic going by the samples. I'll give it another shot but I'm not feeling the same intensity. Fingers crossed.

Nazghor - Infernal Aphorism
I am so in love with just these 2 teaser tracks I cannot wait to hear the rest of the album on Friday. Thanks to the solo artist, Zulmet, for making me aware of this. I listened to it for the first time the other day while working out and it made me feel like a god. It's furiously strong and aggressive, but uplifting and inspirational, and I don't care how cliche I sound right now :)

Dauþuz - Die Grubenmähre
Has some similar elements to Nazghor actually, but this is somber and bone-chilling.
https://naturmachtproductions.bandcamp.com/album/die-grubenm-hre

I've been kind of stuck listening to the same albums lately and I'm really stoked to find some new stuff

My most wanted album at the moment is the new Torture Squad CD, Far Beyond Existence. However, not one site that has it will ship to Canada. Can anyone help me?

No doubt that Aosoth album will be something else.

Two more black metal albums to be released before the year's end that I'll be keeping an eye on:

Yellow Eyes - Immersion Trench Reverie (Oct. 20th)
A truly fantastic US black metal band. I've enjoyed their past albums (Stillicide EP is also really good), by the sample song they seem to be delivering more of the same quality dark atmospheric BM.
Spoiler: show

Chaos Moon - Eschaton Mémoire (Nov 17th)
Honestly I'm not too familiar with the past material from this project, but I do enjoy the main composer's other project, Skáphe. The one released track is absolutely engrossing. The synths floating above the blasting metal make for a gargantuan sound. Also, gotta dig the album art from Wrest

Acid Witch put out a new song today. I am a huge fan of their debut with Lasse on vocals and Stoned to a lesser degree so I have been eagerly anticipating this. Their effect may be wearing thin on me.

Wasn't crazy on the song released, but will give it a go. Will be some fun moments, but might be hard to touch the first couple albums

Apparently there is a new Arrayan Path coming out in a few days, so soon after their last one that I didn't even know to look for it until now, and the songs I am hearing sound awesome. Very cool tribal/mythical bent now, lots of chanting, and clear, heavy trad metal riffing. This band is so fucking good.
