J-MELO, a show on the Japanese cable channel NHK World, did a profile of a singer named Sin Isomer. It's kind of silly, the host is acting like there's no heavy metal in Japan. She said she never met a female metal singer before. Hello, Rami's been around a decade. The theme of the show was acts that debuted in the past year. Isomer has a pretty deep voice but a strong one. Her band is very western-sounding. And she's a big girl. She dwarfs the other girls on the set (She was with a pop singer who comes of as a cyberpunk version of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and an AKB48 offshoot.)

You get one guess which is Isomer. :)

Ah, found the video.

Strangely enough their engrish is better then most Japanese metal bands.
I thought that Rami was one of the cutest singers in Japan, but Velaria's vocalist can have me too:D

Okay, i've drunk a bit too much this evening but i have a honest question: After listening to Lovebites Hammer of wrath & shadowmaker and Aldious' Spirit black: What is the fastest ( non thrash or death metal songs) brought by an all female metal band? I'm not even sure there are bands in Europe who can play that fast( all female that is)

Neither. The answer is Mary's Blood. Their drummer is a tiny version of Dave Lombardo.

Seconded. (Japanese) power metal (all-female or not) just doesn't get much better than Mary's Blood.

This picture from Young Guitar gave me a chuckle. It's nice to see Tomo-zo of Gacharic Spin get recognition, but the photographer failed at proper positioning. You put the 4'10 person in the front, not the back. :)

I'd say Rie a.k.a. Suzaku is the fastest female guitarist over there, at least when she solos. Her songs are pretty mid-paced otherwise.

Solo starts at 2:50-ish

RIP Mikio Fujioka. 36 years of age leaving a wife and young children behind - tragic and way too soon.

Say what you will about BABYMETAL but this guy was a real talent and could shred.

Bridear are back with a new guitarist named Misaki and a new album called "Helix" due in April.

New girl is second from the left. Damn, she cute.

On an unrelated note, did the Japanese Metal site fall down and go boom?

Nah, the host got a critter in its coochie recently and has been blocking every man and their dog. Extremely frustrating...

With Bridear, I hope the new girl is good - replacing Misa won't be easy.

Atsushi Kuze has quit Concerto Moon. Let's just hope his successor is also just as good. Still, Takao Ozaki, who sang on Rain Forest and the previous two albums, is dearly missed in the band's musical chemistry. I just hope Norifumi Shima makes a wise choice with the next vocalist, and maybe get Toshiyuki Koike back in the fold for good.

Something is wrong with the host. Most people there (including myself) got blocked at one point recently. I'm not sure what exactly is going on.

Hey all,

I have checked a very underrated band called Ancient Myth. I really liked their Symphonic Power Metal style. I only heard their demo called Antibes and it was a pleasant listen.

You gotta check that out.

By the way, Lovebites ARE INCREDIBLE!!!

It'd be a shame to talk the fastest playing all-female bands without mention at least a couple of the older speedsters:

Just a heads up, there's a new Fate Gear coming out in April if you are fans of the band.

Didn't Fate Gear JUST release something? Yeesh. They're gonna die before they're 20.

Since Fate Gear is Destrose leader Mina's project, I'm actually impressed that they're still alive in the first place. Of course, singer Nico (my favorite member) is currently in a state of ambiguous limbo concerning the band, and vocally the new album looks like it's going to comprise of multiple guest singers instead...I don't really know for sure though.

EDIT: and yeah, Cross Vein is long overdue for a full-length

The same fairy tale continues, as with band Destrose, but now at higher level.

Lovebites are playing Wacken.

http://www.jpurecords.com/lovebites_wacken_2018/

Japan’s iron maidens, LOVEBITES, will perform on their biggest stage yet at Germany’s Wacken Open Air 2018, taking place between 2-4 August 2018. The band, one of Music Week’s ten acts on the radar for 2018, will be the first all-female metal act from Japan to perform at the event.

Founder and bass player miho comments, “Playing on stage at Wacken Open Air has been one of our dreams since forming LOVEBITES, and we’re thrilled for it to happen so soon after our debut album! Since this will be the first time in Wacken’s long history for a metal band formed of Japanese women to be on the line-up, me and the LOVEBITES members will do our best. We can’t wait to play in front of metal heads all over the world in Germany this summer! As we say in Japan; yoroshiku onegaishimasu!”

LOVEBITES debut album AWAENING FROM ABYSS saw Metal Hammer comparing its “blistering twin guitar salvos and soaring vocals” to the likes of Rage and Iron Maiden, and Kerrang! note that “DragonForce would be proud of such expert-grade guitar heroism”.

AWAKENING FROM ABYSS was released in Europe by JPU Records ahead of LOVEBITES’ first overseas festival appearance at London’s HYPER JAPAN – the UK’s biggest Japanese culture convention – and their headline set at The Underworld in Camden.

That's because they are TRYING. They are showing a clear interest in fans and performing outside their country, unlike Aldious, Mary's Blood, Bridear, etc. Wacken's promoters are approached by hundreds of bands every year. They aren't going to go digging around for bands making no effort to be noticed outside their country.

Mary's Blood have actually released all their albums in Europe just this past year, so they're gearing up for a more international presence.

I think the bigger indicator is that Lovebites' songs are in English and those other bands' songs aren't.

Never hurt Rammstein that they didn't sing in English.

Let's see how MB does. Saki speaks fluent English and should be the face of the band. She is absolutely Guitar Player/Guitar World material, for both her ability and looks.

But it comes down to wanting it. First interview I read with Miho she expressed a desire to tour American and play Wacken, specifically. And Mi-ya was all over NAMM. Saki needs to raise her profile. Things must have gone south if they are off Victor, and that last album was kind of a misfire. So she has work to do.

I do hope they make it, though. Their brand of super-fast and super-heavy power metal would be immensely well-received at Wacken.

But it's good that Lovebites are getting this much attention, too. Their debut was pretty damn spiffy, and it might whet the appetite for more bands like them, and that could very well mean more attention being paid to the best power metal band of all time Mary's Blood.

You'd be surprised by how many all-girl Japanese power metal bands there are. And most of them are super legit, too.

Is the general consensus that MB got dropped from Victor and not that they're back to their label hopping?

Nah, it looks like Mary's Blood left on their own volition (probably their management's doing tohugh) and supposedly Victor isn't happy about it. I'm sure there's some epic drama that we'll never hear about. Moving to Tokuma isn't exactly a downgrade or anything - Ningen-Isu is on that label. They're much less stingy when it comes to PVs and youtube, at any rate.

Looks like Bridear has a new mini-album on April 11th as well - and they're signed to Universal now. So between the 11th and 18th we have Bridear, Fate Gear, Mary's Blood, and Gacharic Spin.

Unlucky Morpheus have another single out soon and Thousand Eyes just released their latest album, which is the closest in sound to the Thousand Leaves days so far imo. Rip wallet.
