I know it has been forever since I posted here and I know some people here still play DOOM and DOOM II with a source port, so I am putting this out here as it has some extreme content that is relevant to our interests. I made several addons utilizing extreme metal and not just the same Metallica/Sabbath/Maiden/Megadeth content, but stuff like Amon Amarth, Carcass, Emperor and soforth.

Here's a sample of Volume 1's: tracklist:

MAP01: War Pigs by Black Sabbath
MAP02: How the Gods Kill by Danzig
MAP03: 7th Offensive by Bolt Thrower
MAP04: Twilight by Edge of Sanity
MAP05: Destroyed by Hypocrisy
MAP06: Rooster by Alice in Chains
MAP07: Fatso Forgetso by Kyuss
E1M1: Digging up the Corpses by Devildriver
E1M2: Little Dreamer by Ensiferum
E1M3: Donar's Oak by Falkenbach
E1M4: Neon Knights by Black Sabbath
E1M5: Spell of Destruction by Burzum
E1M6: Emerald Crown by Therion
E1M7: Condition Red by Iron Savior
E1M8: Trollhammaren by Finntroll

Downloads:
Volume 1 & 2
Volume 3 & 4

Don't mind the 0 and 1 star ratings because some dipshit trolls who have a hateboner for all things me it seems.

I would cry heresy on DooM's part, but yeah...save for "Shawns Got the Shotgun" DooM II's OST is pretty weak and uncharacteristically upbeat sounding. I can see potential in replacing most of those tracks.

Intrigued by the Therion inclusions and some others, but it will take me a while to sort through which ones are good and not.

I've been playing Doom since it came out, which is over 20 years. I had turned 7 the month it came out.

In a way the various snippets of heavy metal Doom's composer Bobby Prince included planted the seed for me later becoming a metalhead. Songs like "Behind the Crooked Cross" and "Raining Blood" by Slayer or "This Love" by Pantera would be instantly recognizable to anyone who played Doom and Doom 2, among many others.

Unholy Realms map 14 contains a MIDI cover of Finisterra by Moonspell and its done really well.

Raining Blood isn't in Doom/2, maybe you're thinking of south of heaven?

I'm glad to hear that some folks here appreciate the work I put busting my ass downloading 3,000+ MIDIs from here and probably spending around 6 hours across 3 days putting the WADs together. If you can, vote so we can undo the abysmal rating done by trolls.

Yeah. TBH, I didn't even recognize that song at first because the melody is different. I had to re-listen to the slayer song after someone mentioned it and realized it was the same drum fill.

This list would be very fitting to play with the Brutal Doom mod as well.

If any of you haven't checked Brutal Doom out, do yourself a favor...

Slayer - Behind the Crooked Cross
Alice In Chains - Them Bones
Black Sabbath - After All (the Dead)
was there more?

Bobby Prince took various snippets of songs from various sources, some of them are only speculative (the song to E1M1: The Hangar has been debated for years now) while others are obvious. He knew just how much he could borrow without getting into legal trouble, so none of them were outright covers. He's done this for other games as well such as Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure, Wolfenstein 3D and Commander Keen.

http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Doom_II_music

Some of the speculations on those pages are surprising. Edge of Sanity in particular was unexpected but I do hear a bit of a resemblance. It's a bit of a stretch though.

One of the more obvious ones was E3M1 being "Mouth for War" by pantera.

Been playing Doom/Doom 2 for 20 goddamn years, so this should be fun.

I like the original DooM II soundtrack. The one thing that gets old, though, is the blues-style chord progression in about every song. Still, many of the songs are better than in DooM, even, in my opinion.

There's also another song in the DooM II soundtrack that recalls South of Heaven. The main riff is played with a cello sound, I think.

I used to play the hell out of Doom 2 until I lost my floppies years ago. It had such a nice-looking box too... A quick search shows it's for sale on Steam, so if I decide to get it, I'll give your music a try. I'm intrigued by your inclusion of folk metal!

..Have you looked at my channel's content lol

I started with BD v0.7 back in early 2011.

I'm thinking of making a less extreme version after hearing some of the criticism I received as some of it not being very DooMish (namely the black metal stuff).

@Goatfangs: The new wiki is http://www.doomwiki.org as the community moved away from Wikia back in 2012 or 2013.

@Mysticaloldbard: All major genres of metal are included, which is why I feel this addon was an accomplishment to me.
