Wow, shit - I used to play this in high school. Shame about the singer.

Not lately... been stuck on The Book since I finally got a CD copy. Getting Black Seal soon, too.

Usurpress - Interregnum

Their singer Stefan Pettersson also passed away a couple of days ago and way too young at 46. I love Interregnum and it is one of my favorite albums this year.

Kampfar - Swarm Norwegicus

A song about the Black Death. I love how it can portray the sickness and evil of it, while also sounding triumphant and glorious at the same time. Something unique to black metal in my opinion.

Very overlooked song! Probably their best "obscure song" I can think of. The music video gives me a headache though.

Interdimensional Summit - Dimmu Bogir

It's weird. Its kinda like Powerwolf in some ways. Not sure if I like it or not but hey, it was the first track on this year's Nuclear Blast Sampler so it was free. I may get a taste for it at best but if I grow to dislike it oh well.

Monstrosity - Manipulation Strain

One of my favorites from the consistently strong Millennium.

Satan's Host - By The Hands Of The Devil
Song: Inferior Worlds (currently on this song)

This album is outstanding and it's the perfect mix of black and power metal.

Sodom- Proselytism Real

This album works best when it's slow.

Alice Cooper- Raise Your Fist and Yell.

Crazy Uncle Alice going in a slightly more heavy metal direction. "Freedom", "Lock Me Up" and "Roses on White Lace" are pure 80's metal goodness. Even more traditional rock-oriented tracks like "Step on You", "Chop Chop Chop" and "Time to Kill" have a darker harder edge to them. Highly recommended for those in the mood for loud, anthemic 80's rock/heavy metal with a slight dark edge.

Kamelot - A Feast for the Vain

This stuff is pure art... so sad how terrible they've become now. Hopefully they'll regain some inspiration in the future.

MONOLORD
Great doom metal from Sweden the old school way,
Traditional stuff without modern influences.
Some riffs almost sound like death doom, which is nice.

Saw them live this week end, it was a very good gig!

I've been on a thrash kick all morning: Destructor, Aggression, Artillery, Hirax, Sarcofago, Ulysses Siren, and now:

Reverend - Power of Persuasion

I never really listen to this EP, instead going for the full-lengths. So far so good, but I honestly don't remember much of any of these four tracks.

This is a really incredible record. He should be on the Archives for this record alone.

Lykathea Aflame - Bringer of Elvenefris Flame

Lovely song. So strange that this album got a lot of reviews, almost the same number as big bands like Dissection, but I've never heard of this band out of M-A.

Manowar - The Lord of Steel

It's been almost only this and Survivor the past week. I'm getting boring. They used to be the lords of steel, now they're the lords of hanging skin and prostatism. Maybe that's why they're quitting it. But I still love 'em!

That whole album (Djevelmakt) is freakin' awesome. Probably my favorite thing the band has ever done honestly.

NP:

Cianide - "Eulogy"

I'm getting really into Cianide's first two albums. It's just really good, super crunchy death doom with no bells and whistles. Excellent for their time.

Fucking hell I love this band. Both musically and medical themes are cool as fuck. I also dig how the vocalist growls numbers, they can make anything sound cool.

Fleshgod Apocalypse - King

I'm kind of sad that this track isn't as enjoyable to me as Oracles is. Maybe it requires repeated listens to really sink in.

Mayhem- Live in Leipzig

This came out 25 years ago this month, but no one is quite sure what day, so best to celebrate it now!

Necrobutcher having a bit of trouble with his bass in the first song.

Conception - Wolf's Lair
I'm pretty glad this band is back. I like all 4 of their albums, with "Parallel Minds" being my favorite, and I've missed Roy Khan's voice. I'm hoping the new EP is good, I donated to their crowdfunding thing...

The last two albums have honestly bored me to tears. They're still a top notch live act, though.

Akercocke - Antichrist

Summon the master indeed! This album is like fine spirit: Un-concealing its body, and then, so potently releasing its true power onto the strong-stomached. A truly frightening piece of musical expression exercising extremity pushed to its limits.

Listened to Forbidden's debut, followed by Twisted Into Form - Absolutely awesome albums, followed by Nuclear Assaults punkish thrash debut, Game Over. '80s to early '90s American thrash is a high point for the metal genre and still awesom-o.

Man, Test for Echo doesn't deserve to be labelled as the worst Rush album by Metallum reviewers. It's a beautiful, gorgeous record.

Funny how Soundgarden's status is "unknown" right now on the band's page, it should be superunknown.

I'm listening to Construct of Lethe's 'Exiler'. It's a brutal album so far with a great balance of Immolation pummel and face-melting technicality. Great Virginian response to the New York sound. Raw production, bits of carnival campiness, really drives home the oldschool Apocalyptic death metal atmosphere and the album cover looks like a Warcraft Renaissance. https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/C ... ler/711162

Megadeth - I thought I Knew it all

I'm on a Megadeth deep dive right now. Sometimes Dave is too much for me, but once every couple years I go ballistic. I listened to all of Cryptic Writings yesterday, and there are some nice hidden treasures on that one.
