It's just so dark and awesome.

Turn Loose the Swans is an undeniable masterpiece, and that track is probably my favourite MDB song.

Yep! Recently, "Sear Me MCMXCIII" even inspired me to teach myself to play piano.

Organ Dealer - No Answer

Nothing like some searing deathgrind to make one's day.

Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun

Lyrics are a bit simplistic, but the music is beautiful...

Pink Floyd - Empty Spaces

Been digging back into them, was one of my favorite bands when I was younger. Still know most the words to this album. The heavier moments (the two motif riffs) and the quiet, desolate songs sound like this were big inspiration for the latest Pallbearer album.

Black Sabbath - The Eternal Album

Tony Martin sabbath might have a few 80s rock-ish moments, but I pity anyone who let them stop from discovering songs like this. Pure evil only the way Iommi could do. The man never lost it.

I'm guessing you mean Eternal Idol. That album was such a let down, maybe because it had way too many 80s rock-ish moments. I like most of what I heard off of Headless Cross.

Motorhead- Broken

Negura Bunget - Om.

My second time listening... I first listened to it (late to the party I know) last night. I had to stay up and listen to the whole thing in bed. Just wow. Shoutout to that guy who has all those avant-garde bands in his sig, can't remember his name!!!!

Rebirth of Nefast - Carrion is a Golden Throne

I've spent a lot of time with Tabernaculum lately and have to say, retroactively, that this is AOTY 2017, truly. Every second of this album is just fucking mighty.

Black Sabbath - Paranoid (album)

A landmark. A remarkable, a classic which will be remembered decades from now and even more respected than currently. This is an album that came after another extraordinarily forward-looking album, namely, King Crimson: In The Court of The Crimson King. Paranoid is a blue-print for how how Bluesy/Rock/Metal album should be produced. Iommi's Riff power is compelling, sharp and distinct. Rock solid bass playing by Geezer Butler accounting for every change of rhythm in the drums and of course Bill Ward's drumming style follows the riffs in each every twist and turn without hesitation or moment of peace. And lastly, Ozzy the doom-sayer. Them dark gentlemen.

Skeletonwitch - Fen of Shadows

You gotta admit, this song is good despite Chance being gone.

Death - Individual Thought Patterns

I'm not a huge fan of Death so this album gets a moderate rating from me.

Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Song: Evil Dead (currently on this song)

Eh...I decided to give Death another chance. Scream Bloody Gore is really good. I think the progressive phase of Death is a bit of a turn off.

Just talked with some old drunkard how great this album is. My fave from Ozzy-era along Vol. 4.

Thy Serpent - Forests of Witchery

Haven't listened to this in forever. Not the most agressive bm in the world but love the melodies and atmosphere.

Ministry - Wargasm

This album is really growing on me. It isn't Rio Grande Blood but it is a great combination of political satire and dystopian atmosphere. It is a slow burner more than anything. It has some killer songs and some great grooves.

YES! Nice to see someone else on here giving props to that band.

Necrophobic- The Nocturnal Silence.

This is my 2nd shot at this album, and man is it clicking more with me more than before. I always liked "Unholy Prophecies", but from the melodic pounding of "Before the Dawn" to the sinister grooves of "Inborn Evil", everything just slays. A really, really solid early death metal effort with a black metal twist.

I wonder if we'll be seeing a better release in 2018. Maybe the upcoming YOB album?

I'm alternating back and forth between a couple of albums right now:

Arawn - Zrození

Some incredible Czech death metal, very catchy.

Colossus Morose - Seclusion

By far the most crushing funeral doom I've ever come across.

Woods of Ypres - Through Chaos and Solitude I Came

Working my way through WoY's discography. Probably the best of the more black metal oriented albums.

Bel'akor-The Dream and the Waking

Holy fucking shit, this song is amazing. The melody at 1:47 is fucking mindblowing. I just...I just love melodeath so much.

I agree. I've had it on heavy rotation since it came out. I listened to the record start-to-finish again last night. I still feel like the last two tracks could have been cut, but it's my favourite JP album since Painkiller.

Absolutely not. It's just way to early for me to make that kind of statement, personally. I'll have to see how Firepower ages.
