Black Sabbath - Dear Father

The best song on 13, and the perfect way to end their career.

Talking about the end (or The End, rather) of Black Sabbath, I found the trio performance of Changes on The End (its last track) really touching. Never really cared for it on Vol. 4, but this has a totally different vibe.

Angra - Omni

Wow, I gave up with that band with Secret Garden (which I listened to only once) but those fellas caught my attention back. Pretty solid album, a mix between classic power metal in the first part and very Pagan's Mind-esque influences in the second one. I might even review it.

Alrakis - Echoes from Eta Carinae

The same boring schlock as the first album. Why do atmo-black fans think higher about this band than Midnight Odyssey, Mare Cognitum, or even fucking Mesarthim?

Hacavitz - Metztli Obscura

Vicious and heavy album with loads of super catchy death metal riffs and tasty dissonant arpeggios.

Wiegedood - Kwaad Bloed

Listening to the new album made me come back to their 1st. This is one of the best BM songs ever made.

Candlemass - At the Gallows End

Nobody will ever match Candlemass in all of doom metal. It's just impossible.

Just finished listening to Darkspace III. I wasn't very impressed but it may grow on me.

Marblebog - Forestheart

With spring/summertime finally fully arrived it's officially black metal season for me. This is definitely simplistic and raw, but convincingly melancholy and packed with tons of surprisingly good riffs. Some tightening of the compositions could have made it great.

Arrow & Kiln, by Falls of Rauros.

The guitars are great on this one, from acoustic folk to black tremolo, with a very atmospheric feeling. The voice is hysteric. I recently discovered the band, and I really like it.

Theotoxin - Apokatastasis
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9RMWJhzGSc

The chorus in this one reminds me of some other song but i cannot remember which one, been scratching my head over it and nothing pops up, if someone can connect the dots it would be much appreciated.

Been listening to Consilivm for the past 2 days non-stop, really good stuff.

Skid Row - Wasted Time

Yup, I think I like Slave to the Grind even more than the self-titled debut. That admission should eliminate any leftover anti-"hair metal" bias I might have had. (Although my anti-"nu metal" bias is as strong as ever. :P )

I'm afraid I have to agree, particularly with that album.

Pink Floyd - Empty Spaces

Been digging back into them, was one of my favorite bands when I was younger. Still know most the words to this album. The heavier moments (the two motif riffs) and the quiet, desolate songs sound like this were big inspiration for the latest Pallbearer album.

Black Sabbath - The Eternal Album

Tony Martin sabbath might have a few 80s rock-ish moments, but I pity anyone who let them stop from discovering songs like this. Pure evil only the way Iommi could do. The man never lost it.

Rome in Monochrome - Paranoia Pitch Black

Getting into this strange "sludge/post-rock/metal" genre. Very pleasant.

Warfield - Vision Genocide

Just ran across these German thrashers. This is some riff laden killer thrash. Sounds like the evil love child of Sodom and Kreator. Good shit!

Just finished listening to Bathory's The Return. Bathory is really growing on me considering that I'm not a huge fan of thrash metal. I know it's a black metal album but there are some thrash elements when you listen to some of Quorthon's songs.

Necrophobic - Sacrosanct

Tsar Bomba is clearly the standout on the new record, but this one is really growing on me. Starting to become one of my favourite metal albums so far this year.

Nidsang - The Mark of Chaos

Not as good as the follow-up, but still an enjoyable listen. I like the eerie ambient stuff in the middle of the album.

Belladonna - Phony

This is kinda crappy. Really boring chugalong nonsense, and Joey's vocals sound like he's singing into a toilet bowl.
