Hooded Menace - Ashen with Solemn Decay

I might as well revisit more of this band - this really rules. Sluggish and disgusting, yet oh so addictive doom/death.

Green Carnation - The Quiet Offspring

Still, after all those years, it tastes great and timeless! Superb audio experience!

Satan - Court in the Act

I'd say this is an example of a forgotten NWOBHM relic being excellent but I then I realised it isn't really 'forgotten', is it? Should check out this band's other albums under this name, Blind Fury and Pariah.

Limbonic Art - Spectre Abysm (2017)

I have to give Daemon credit for marching onwards and still releasing material by himself. There's definitely hints of the old magic on this release but that's about as far as it goes.

Despised Icon - Beast (2016)

Playing new random band roulette on Spotify for fun. Always really dug the band name. Not a deathcore fan at all but when they turn up the 'death' and lower the 'core' I can get into some of these songs.

Sodom- Obsessed By Cruelty

Imagine how amazing this song (hell this album) would have been if the drums weren't mucking everything up by being so loud in the mix.

Pelican - Ephemeris

One of Pelican's signature songs with that dastardly main riff that they play off for the rest of the song so well. Possibly my favorite instrumental metal band.

Converge - The Dusk In Us

This is fucking great. They've added more metal in their sound than they used to have and the result sounds quite a bit like old Slayer influence mixed with their usual raucous racket. Great riffs and ominous, on-point songs. Loving it.

Converge never disappoint; in general their albums are exceptionally creative and dynamic. Except for Halo in a Haystack but we'll gloss over that.

Yeah. They're a good example of keeping to a signature sound but always restlessly experimenting and changing things.

Thy Majestie - Siblings of Tian

Utterly impeccable, slick modern power metal. Genius songwriting.

Razor - "Instant Death"

I usually don't care too much Cronos style vocals, but Sheepdog is really great at it. Listened to Evil Invaders for the first time in years, and I still remember the vocal melodies to this random song. Really wish I could have stayed long enough to see them at CDF a few years ago.

Prong - "Broken Peace"

One of my favorite tracks from 'Cleansing'. Not as furious as the other tracks on the album, this one has a more relaxed vibe but the steady riffing reminds you it's still metal after all.

Judas Priest - Blood Red Skies

I only took Ram it Down out for this song alone, heh. It's been some time, and I never get tired hearing this masterpiece.

Tarot - Ashes to the Stars

This is basically a perfect metal song in my eyes. These guys were so fucking good when they were "on" - Suffer Our Pleasures and Crows Fly Black were two of my favorite albums of the 00s.

Agalloch - The Serpent & the Sphere

Unlike what seems to be a majority of people, I really like this album. The second time I saw them live was on the tour for this album, and it was glorious. Best band?

Wilderun - "The Garden of Fire". I'm just discovering this Sleep at the Edge of the Earth album and it's really fitting in with all the Lor and Caligula's Horse I've been listening to lately.

Pantera - Revolution is My Name

My most favorite track from the last Pantera album. This song is just perfect. Dimebag is the star on this track as his guitar playing shines from start to end. From the initial guitar wails that opens the track to the thunderous main riff that envelopes the song and ofcourse the face melting guitar solo.

Nortt - Endeligt

I'm a big fan of Galgenfrist, but the wait since that album was ridiculous. Enjoying this so far tho.

Tribulation - Beyond The Horror

Had only heard their goth-rock stuff so was utterly floored at how insane their early death metal stuff was.

Rush - Resist

Test for Echo is a fun album, I don't understand why is it so underrated.

Lucifer's Hammer' "Lucifer's Hammer"

Excellent traditional metal from Chile in the vain of dark and raw NWOBHM acts like Satan or Cloven Hoof.

Rush - Mystic Rhythms. - A great 80's era Rush tune. Nowhere close to hard rock or metal but Rush did everything pretty good.
