I am convinced this is the best Burzum album ever.

Astrophobos - 'Tabula Rasa' from Enthroned in Flesh EP (2016)

One of the best and closest attempts at capturing the magic of the mid to late 90's Swedish Black Metal scene. Brought back lots of fond memories of that time especially Setherial, Lord Belial, Necrophobic and even some Dissection... fans of that sound won't be disappointed, it's a great EP.

Living Colour - Shade

I didn't have any expectations, but over halfway through, I am definitely having a good time with this one. Nice and varied.

I love Belus, but some stuff on Fallen is even better. "Catchy Burzum"? Then started a real downhill. Umskiptar (or how do you spell that...) is the most boring album I've heard from him.

Uh, i'm in Burzum mood too, it must be the weather

Carpathian Forest - The Pale Mist Hovers Towards the Nightly shores

Verbose title, kickass riffing. The idea of adding those brief horror movie keyboards was brilliant! :)

Dark Forest - Like Towers They Reach to the Sky

Havent listened to this since it came out in 2012, so now I felt like it could have a new spin.

Solid stuff!

Noticed they had a new album coming out, so I gave this a listen for the first time in a while. Good shit.

Yes because the classic ones have those lame extended synth tracks. Fuck that noise. Even Varg said he should have subbed out Undergung or whatever its called for a fast song.

Megadeth - Diadems

One of the best Megadeth tracks that never made it to an album of theirs. The second best track on the Demon Knight soundtrack (the best being the Machine Head track).

Lots of people like those. Even the "water drop" samples in (1996) Burzum - Filosofem are worth it.

(2007) Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris on my way to work.
Their weirdest album for sure.

Blue Cheer - Rock Me Baby

Vincebus Eruptum is a crazy album. The 60s were fucking wild, man. This is just nonstop grooving, rolling, rumbling guitar licks and leads - massively heavy for the time. You can hear where a lot of later bands got ideas.

Sunburst - Out of the World

Progressive metal is a real hit or miss genre to me, let alone modern bands but I'm not sure what to make of this so far. Cool Roy Khan influenced vocals though.

Accidental Suicide - Deceased

Depending on my mood, this album is either a derivative bore barely worth the $4 I paid for it after fishing it out of a bargain bin, or an absolutely quintessential crusher of a lost classic. Tonight it's the latter.

Desultory - Beneath The Bleeding Sky

A strong final album from these Swedish death metal greats. Haven't heard their previous one but I heard that it was also a return to form from the critically-panned 'Swallow the Snake'.

Same. My favourite Immortal is Sons Of Northern Darkness, but I always forget just how incredible At The Heart of Winter is start-to-finish. I'd love a nice vinyl re-issue.

Threshold - Snowblind

Can't stop playing this one. Just a larger than life, explosive listen - more accessible than usual, but put together immaculately and with care and subtlety.

Myrkur - The Serpent

Gotta say, I'm digging Mareridt so far. Sounds like she's not forcing herself to fit the black metal stereotypes this time around, and what she's come up with is really enjoyable.

Yeah. halfway through the album and I'm pleasantly suprised. Lots of slow, moody songs as well. Crown is basically a Lana Del Rey song! I'm digging it. And you're right. This doesn't sound forced at all.
