My new melancolia CD! What I don't understand is how the genre description is dark black metal... isn't that basically a synonym of black metal to begin with? Dark is bit of a vague classification for music. |

Type O Negative - Dead Again Probably the album I've listened to the least, but I still enjoy it a lot; it's got a more bluesy/sludgy feel than the others. |

I'd say Type O Negative are among the most consistently awesome groups you could listen to. Every album has a lot of awesome tunes, though I will admit Dead Again is probably the one I've heard the least, as well. Wolf - Children of the Black Flame Man, this album is full of great songs. |

Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put a Spell on You (Screamin' Jay Hawkins cover), off I'm not really sure..... I have never given CCR much thought before, but for some reason, this Screamin' Jay cover picked my curiosity, and I'd especially like to highlight Fogerty's voice. I didn't realize how much of a unique singer the guy is until now. |

Putrevore - Macabre Kingdom More awesome material to satisfy my old school death metal lust. Definitely one of the best of its kind to be released this year. |

Sworn - Alleviation From one of the few melodic death metal albums I enjoy, not sure if not more bm than mdm. Their second album is crap though. |

Wolf - False Preacher These guys just can't seem to do any wrong. |

Mitochondrion - ...Into the Pit of Babel An epic monster of grinding and aggressive death/black metal. What a great track. Spent most of the workday listening to a cocktail of Mitochondrion, Portal, and Antediluvian. By the end of the day, I felt exhausted. Awesome. I was just in the mood for this type of stuff today. |

Anaal Nathrakh - Of Fire, and Fucking Pigs, off Vanitas Still my favorite song off the new album, though I got no absolutely problems with it. It beats the crap out of Passion, and it can easily look at Hell is Empty in the eye without flinching even a bit. |

triggerhappy wrote: Listening to the new Car Bomb on a whim. Sounds pretty good. It's heavier and bottom-oriented than most mathcore (from what I've heard at least). Ooh, there's a new one? I didn't even know. I liked Centralia so I'll have a look for this one. Metal_Detector wrote: Putrevore - Macabre Kingdom More awesome material to satisfy my old school death metal lust. I really want this one but they've got to release it on CD. oogboog wrote: Beyond Terror Beyond Grace - Dusk Man, it's refreshing to see someone other than myself name-dropping this one all the time. One of my favourite albums of the year, for sure. Every song is a winner. oogboog wrote: Chimaira - Nothing Remains That's also a good album. Chimaira were really peaking by that point, and while I was disappointed with their latest effort I do hope they can return to the great metalcore I know they can play. Agave Maize - Thrones of Isolation Bought this a long time ago but left the CD at a friend's house in Melbourne - oops! Anyway, listening to it for the first time now and I'm impressed. Straightforward Australian black metal but I quite like it so far. Great riffs and drumming that tries hard. Vocals are a little standard for black metal, but overall it's not too bad at all! Still not even half-way through so I hope this quality keeps up. |

Expensive import LPs limited to 100 copies suck. |

I think in time it will be released on CD. When it does I'll be all over it. I haven't heard the whole album but the bits I did hear were just awesome. For now, Binah, Undergang, and others will satisfy me. |

Thy Art Is Murder-Shadow of Eternal Sin im still trying to figure out if i should give a shit about these guys. I love the fast blast sections and the insane growls but out of no where the chugs are unleashed and a generic breakdown is used. Going to give their album a couple listens and make a decision. |

Protip: start with The Adversary. I haven't listened to Hate in its entirety yet, but the two songs I tried were awful. |

Emperor- Ye Entrancemperium I understand the criticisms that come with this album. It's overblown, often times melodramatic, Ihsahn's vocals are quiet, but the wide-eyed seventeen year old in me that first heard this album six years ago still loves it. 1:03-1:22 is one of my favorite moments in metal. Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague I forgot how good this is. Torture is better, I think, but this is still one beast of an album. "Scalding Hail" is one of their best modern songs with a great riff, but the whole album is still quality. You know what to expect from Cannibal Corpse, for better or worse, but I like them and this one is good. Better than The Wretched Spawn, that's for sure. |
