Gaius Acilius (death/black/grind) has posted their first album for free on their MySpace: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=204487183&blogID=420555813.

Shame they don't have enough money to have physical copies printed, otherwise they'd be on M-A.

I believe you can have a band added as long as you give a link to a page with some of their tracks. Not 100% sure on that, though.

No, there must be at least one physical release.

Aurora Forrest's first full length is being distributed freely across myspace. Here's the link.

http://www. megaupload. com/?d=4UYL2G37

It's pretty good experimental black metal with some industrial influences and some powerful synth work.

I'm not saying this isn't a legal link, but I don't see this link on their MySpace. Did they link to it in a recent bulletin or something? One of their blogs says it was available for a week to download after its release, after which it had to be obtained physically.

Yeah, it was in a bulletein. They said it was a a week release, but they left it on comments and the main member just said "screw it, if you find the link, download it".

Aurora Forrest side-project has three tracks for download on their myspace. More is expected to come, possibly even a full Ep and or full length.

Cardinal Sin. Death and thrash hybrid, sounds like early sepultura
http://www.purevolume.com/cardinal_sin

Reckoning Storm. progressive

Communal Grave. death and thrash hybrid

A .rar file is just a compressed archive, it can contain various audio files and types of them. Just download WinRAR to open it up and see what's inside, and extract them to your music folder.

Great thread! Thanks for all posters

Well, I'm going to create some blog to trade oldschool demos, rehearsals, live stuff, etc. hard to find and sold-out items.
Sadly, I'm really busy nowadays, so it take time to do that!

But, if you're intresting in oldschool or rare stuff you could drop me a mail and ask if you're looking for something special.

Thy Catafalque - Tûnõ idõ tárlat (avant-garde metal) is available here:

http://www.shockmagazin.hu/magyar/downl ... ltes.htm#t

At the bottom of the page we read: These files appearing on our website with the kind permission of the bands/authors/makers/labels.

So it's band-sanctioned... there are other things in that page but right now I haven't got the time to check if they're metal or not...

I'd like to announce my latest odd metal project, a full album download, available for free download at the Internet Archive.

This album is a combination of minimal heavy metal drone with maximum extreme drumming - imagine Flo Mournier jamming with Sunn O))).

Please download it from the link, re-post it at your own blogs and pages, and blast it loud to annoy your friends and neighbors.

Most commonly? Either they want people to sample their material if they havent been signed to a label yet, or they've retired and feel like sharing their past material now that its out of print.

Its rare for a reason. Even though a lot of musicians have side careers, they still want to make some money off their work so they can live their daily lives. Regardless, this is better for another topic and the last Im going to say about the subject.

Yup, this is a hobby that I love and will continue to do for as long as I wish. I'm pretty sure I could never make any real money to support myself or my family, so I do it for fun.

I may not always be playing metal, but for sure I will always be creating some kind of music.

ThanX, MrChris for the mention.

Blue Skies Bring Tears - Progressive metal from Sweden. Something I found while browsing through the archives. I didn't enjoy it much to keep it on my player for more than a day. But who knows -- maybe you might like it. You can find their latest two demos on their official website here. Should be fairly easy to locate.
