Not yet, I need to buy the fabric. It's gonna be black with red silk in the inside! I posted a list some pages ago, but here it is again. I'll order some others too including 1 or 2 backpatches (I'm thinking of Gris' logo)

Also, here's how my jacket is doing since last time. I wanted to wait until I had painted over my leather shoulder piece, but my printer decided I'm not going to make clean work with a stencil right away. So whatever. It's kind of on hold lately. I'm keeping my patches to the side until who knows when. |

Ah I see. Well if you ever decide you have the time, looks like it wouldn't be too hard Yeah. To be honest, the more I think about it since your post, the more I think I might want to attempt getting the necessary supplies again. Now that I have a job (despite how shittily it pays), I could at least afford to buy stuff now... *shrug* Maybe I'll do it after all... though I will say I *really* wish I could save up enough to afford an embroidery machine! those things are so, so far out of my budget, though... and even attempting to recoup my costs by selling patches is just too much time I don't really have + there's too much stress in dealing with mail order biz on top of another full-time job. |

Heres mine so far, far from finished and this layout is totally random (except for the three in the middle) I'm sticking with a color scheme (mostly white, some blue) and a theme (various kinds of atmospheric/progressive/whatever BM) Everything but the Woods of Desolation one and the Obsidian Tongue one I printed myself. Here's my full list:

Nice, I like the look of the camo jacket. My uncle gave me his old basic training jacket, but I wouldn't put patches on it, it's a winter coat anyways. If I found a cheap one at a thrift store that I liked I'd probably pick it up. |

Some of these look pretty great. I lack the proper amount of money and tools to make a battle jacket for myself. Though, the one I've created in my head is pretty spectacular. |

It's definitely something to do slowly, just scour thrift shops for a jacket when you have the time and buy a patch here or there at shows. |

Little tip: use dental floss, not embroidery thread. It's stronger and you can burn one end to make a knob instead of trying to tie a knot. As for a jacket, just go to any western wear type store and they usually have denim jackets. Then you just cut the sleeves off. |

KolmeNoitaa wrote: Some of these look pretty great. I lack the proper amount of money and tools to make a battle jacket for myself. Though, the one I've created in my head is pretty spectacular. Tools? Uh, you either need a needle and thread if you want to sew patches on, or a bit of paint or some markers if you want to draw on one. Don't just plaster on patches to attempt to "complete" a vest, it should be something that you build over time. Don't add any patch you come across for the number of patches, make it mean something. I had a single patch on my vest for quite a while, I'm certainly more of a veteran than all the thrash kids with a messy collage of patches, and there is still plenty of space on my vest. Find a jacket or vest that you like and slowly add to it over time. There are some great vests and jackets that hold nothing more than a back patch of a favorite band, made from an old shirt. Make it with pride and meaning. Don't go on an ebay spending spree and turn yourself into a Christmas tree covered in bargain bin ornaments. |

Bought a denim jacket last wednesday and some patches. Ordered a nice Anthrax backpatch. Can't wait to get it. But I don't know yet if I'm going to use this jacket. I bought it a bit too big I think. |

I cut off the sleeves and now I can clearly see it's too big for me. Does anyone has experience with the vests of NuclearBlast.de? http://www.nuclearblast.de/en/products/ ... ashed.html Quality etc? It says ''Falls gross aus'' (I know what it means, but don't know how to translate in english. It means the sizes are larger than they say. M is bigger than a normal M for example) but in what degree? Normally I wear M. So should I buy an S? |

I don't live in an area with many thrift shops, unfortunately. And at the moment, financially, I need to focus on buying things I need to survive (food, soap, and coca-cola of course), though for the most part, I know the basics to build a jacket. It's frustrating though because I wouldn't design something that isn't up to my standards of perfection. Even if I had the money and endless resources to begin my jacket, I know I'd lose interest quickly (and my sewing abilities are less than satisfactory). I'm going to put a 10-year construction allotment time on this project... (and thanks for the tips, of course) |

inhumanist wrote: Any ideas how to get rid of the remnants of iron-on patches that have been removed? Put a patch over it! Useless advice, but I think it works... Or just learn to appreciate the character it adds to your jacket. I've never attempted it, buy maybe you can put an iron on the glue and then try to scrub it up with a damp towel or a rough sponge while it's still tacky from the iron. Something to try, anyway. __________________________________ RE: Dental floss. No thanks. You can get high quality, thick, synthetic (read: meltable) thread dirt cheap... Like, probably for what you'd pay to buy dental floss... and without the gross, waxy residue. This ain't 1980, and I don't think any of us are living in a slum. Dental floss as an alternative to an actual good, quality thread is really pointless and absurd in this day and age, plus it reeks of so much phony Punk posturing (and mint). Seriously, go to any craft/fabrics store. Thread is cheap! It's really not even worth whatever pennies you'd maybe save using dental floss. I mean, floss might be cheaper/better value if you get your crappy thread from the ridiculously limited selection available at Wal-Mart, but an actual fabrics store has an incredibly wide variety of threads in all types and price ranges, and none of them have waxy coatings on them... |

Honestly, sewing is one of the easiest things you can possibly do. Just pin the patch on and go in and out with a needle and thread all the way around. |
