pretty similar if you ask me... If I was Erik Rutan I'd be pretty pissed off about this, since it's only been like 2 days or so since the artwork for Infernus was unveiled...

When you hire an artist for your cover you must see his work gallery, so you don´t get surprised if the paint you choose is similar to another one of him that can be used by other band. Just in case you matter about it.

I was listening to Virgin Steele's Invictus the other day and remembered a few:

The intro to Sword of the Gods sounds like a simplified version of the intro to Blind Guardian's Traveler in Time.

https://youtu.be/e4Z-FRFc3D8
https://youtu.be/bS5kMMMI5XA?t=11s

There's a verse in Defiance that sounds a lot like the verse/bridge in Pantera's Cemetery Gates.

https://youtu.be/NU8Jn0maGKI?t=2m46s
https://youtu.be/1OYw7FPB7CE?t=2m40s

That short bass riff/breakdown in A Whisper of Death sounds similar to the famous bass riff in Rush's Tom Sawyer.

https://youtu.be/hnv2OX4GOrY?t=4m16s
https://youtu.be/JsKBIBJj-4M?t=47s

And then this one I'm not too sure on - The chord progression of the intro to A Shadow of Fear sounds like an Iron Maiden song but I can't place it. Then the riff and drum beat after that have a very Maiden-esque feel to them. I was thinking The Assassin when I heard it earlier but now I'm not sure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhfrMpHyYQI
https://youtu.be/C5DUwhdfG7U?t=42s

(I tried to embed the YouTube videos with spoiler tags, but for some reason most of my post would disappear when I submitted and only the first link worked.)

Position within the picture, proportion to the whole picture, size and gesture of body and head. I think the similarities are there.

No, not really. And just like all of the other posts you made in this thread, it doesn't belong at all.

Well first, perhaps I'm lacking in general culture, but where is the first drawing from ? You do notice that it symbolizes something about drugs, right ?

I'm not sure about the Darkthrone cover, but I notice some kind of 17 century collar.. so I have no idea what this is about.

What may strike people is the legs position. But apparently some people think crucifixions were done that way.

On the first drawing I can't even tell what holds the legs apart.

Since Illud has crept back into discussion, here's this comparison in the spirit of things:

The main verse of Too Extreme!

And the main verse here

I don´t want to sound rude but the thread title is Similarities you´ve noticed, not Similarities Diamhea has noticed, if I find two songs, cover arts or whatever looking similar then I can remark them here, if you don´t notice what I do, that doesn´t give you the right to despise my inputs.

This said, I would be very glad if you could explain what you find similar between the Armored saint and the Deamon covers you post in the previous page, just to clarify how could I contribute better to the thread.

I saw it on Neseblod records web. It is annotated as " SADISTIK EXEKUTION-ORIGINAL A3 POSTER RARE NOK: BUD/BID ". If it is about drugs, yes it look like, i don´t see the problem with that, I just saw the similarity between the subjects on the cross, not their surroundings.

Metallica's "Seek and Destroy", and Slayer's "Raining Blood" have really similar main riffs. Anyone else noticed this?

We all have the right to question posts made in this thread, and I am not the only one to call you out. It doesn't make any sense, and is damaging the quality of the thread!

And for that comparison I made, for two very abstract looking figures and art styles, they look markedly similar. Of course, I'm not surprised you fail to see this, given your track record so far in the thread..

Intro sounds like...

Somewhat. It's not as spot on as some of them I've noticed but it did remind me of that fairly quickly.

Krieg - Who Shall Stand Against Me? at the 2:11 mark sounds a bit like Darkthrone - in the shadow of the horns
The rest of the song is pretty cool though so start from the beginning

well, I hate to add fuel to the argument here but, the "syringe crucifix" image has been used quite a bit over the years. It is the CONCEPT that is similar, not necessarily the actual image itself. The Portland, Oregon based Mayhem (NOT "the true" Mayhem) also had a cover ("Burned Alive" LP") which had that image on it. Like the Carcass and Autopsy images- same basic concept, although those two are far closer in their actual resemblance to each other.

Also, the "And Ocgans" (or whatever that band name is?) cover does look similar to "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" but I don't recognize the Mekong Delta one.

The original poster of the syringe crucifix image didn't even point to a single other syringe image. The one you bring up is the first one; but the crufixion is entirely missing.

1-Someone cruficied on a syringe and surrounded by syringes under a dark sky
2-Someone crucified on a double cross under a dark sky
3-Someone tied up to a syringe and burned alive, surrounded by syringes

I guess you can say #1 and #3 have similarities.

In Unsacred's "Abasement, Loss and Regret" off their 2012 EP "Three Sisters", the final tremolo sounds like Naglfar's "I Am Vengeance" off their album Sheol.

http://brokenlimbsrecordings.bandcamp.c ... ee-sisters

Here's I Am Vengeance for comparison:

I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but the main riff in "Down For Life" by Testament is pretty damn close to the main riff in "Elimination" by Overkill.

The main riff in Septicflesh's "Communion" sounds identical to a riff found in Cradle of Filth's "Dusk...and Her Embrace." It is pretty much the exact same riff.

Septicflesh - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN2Wg0Q-TS8 (its the main riff of the song and starts from the very beginning)

Cradle of Filth - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc7fDL_QTLc (the riff starts at 2:22)

Alright, this is hardly metal.. and I hung around Deep Purple forums and newsgroups for quite a while without ever hearing this, so I'm going to duck right away.

I always though that Knocking at Your Back Door, Mk II Purple's comeback track from 1984, sounded quite similar to Phil Collins and Philip Bailey's Easy Lover from the same year.

There's something in the chord progression and timing that's oddly similar, plus Gillan's voice is up there in the same range as these two, and overlays his vocals in the studio version (chorus).

I won't put youtube clips, because there's no obvious part.. it's just a feeling I get, and always got.

Thing is, Purple's track came out 3 months before Collin's. I don't think there's any copying or influence, it's just the Zeitgeist I guess.
