I hope I never find out.

Although to album title is the German equivalent of "feast of the ass", which is bizarrely appropriate in many disturbing ways.

It may come across a little less disturbing once you know that a less ambiguous translation is "donkey mass" ("mass" in its ritualistic meaning, not referring to matter).

You might want to get on that! I've already sharpened the axe and the execution block is almost cleaned up and ready to go, all that is left is to invite the villagers and once they hear you've owned Thundersteel and never listened to it they will be there in seconds.

Seriously though, idk why you never gave them a chance. They are the shit! I mean if people just avoided every heavy metal album from the 80s with bad cover art then there would only be a handful of albums left to listen to.

Another album that I love but can't take the cover very seriously. On a positive note this isn't close to Riot level awkwardness but still up there.

Smart move haha.

I have to agree on the black metal cover thing, I mean it is my favorite genre but that doesn't excuse some of the covers out there! It seems they are either brilliant or just absolutely cheesy haha.

I'll cut this one some slack since it was 1990 but still...

Yeah, I meant "ass" as in the animal myself - both the English and the German phrase are equivalent to the Latin term "festum asinorum".

It's true. How come Sargeist always gets trash covers but Horna's are usually pretty good?

I did actually think they did a decent job on Feeding The Crawling Shadows, though.

Let the Devil In, while unexciting in and of itself, is pretty simple and effective. I'm actually kinda wondering what's up with Feeding the Crawling Shadows with Shat Rug (I think that's him?) on the cover with a blurred out gang sign or something with his right hand.

Quit being so wrong. R.S. Connett is godly. Check out his painting for the latest Hammers of Misfortune. Sure his technique has refined a lot, but the raw, ugly style of his earlier work, like that Sausage cover, remains quite striking.

I cannot fathom what they were going for with album art like this other than "steer clear of this unappealing nonsense".

It really is an ugly piece of shit. Not just the drawing, but the text as well. Some low-brow album art can look good, but to me this one never did.
