Because I like to hear music unsullied by extraneous random analogue noise. I only buy vinyl if there's no other choice.

 oh, wow. Note to self: don't make jokes about Varg on this site.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Fallen was good but Belus has crept up into one of my favorite Burzum albums.

CDs are cheaper, and it doesn't matter what it costs to make.

If that's what it costs to hear the music without the inherent noise of the medium that contains it, then yes. I agree, CDs are overpriced, but I can't change that.

The vocals are very important for the special atmosphere and are more important than on any other Burzum album, and more varied too – and as honest as it gets".

From my experience, albums called return-to-the-roots don't turn out as good. Let's hope I'm wrong this time.

I don't think he'll release another HLTO, will try to recreate the old style or that he'll use the same vocals he did on the classic albums, just he's focusing more in atmosphere. Hopefully he'll add some keys on it.

More varied vocals will probably mean he'll use even more cleans this time.

The noise of analogue media; vinyl crackles and pops, and tape hiss.

It can be minimized but not eliminated. They are features inherent to the medium. Some people like that feature.

Same here. The album art is better than those 2 albums though. But I doubt the music'll be that good.

this is true, i can't see it being that good if the last two are anything to go by

digital audio is chopped up and put into frames. The frequency of a cd is limited to 44khz, while the frequency of analogue is unlimited. Either way, sorry for the short rant. We are all entitled to our own opinions and preferences.

Vinyl up for pre-order same cover as CD at the moment. Also the CD price has dropped since first published.

Seems another special edition vinyl at £24.99 I expect some more badges then standard vinyl at £18.50.

Somewhat excited about this, despite the fact that I thought Belus and Fallen were pretty mediocre (minus a few tracks). I'll probably be disappointed again, but oh well!

The deluxe digibook version is available for pre-order on Amazon UK at the moment for a little under 12 pounds (so after shipping it's somewhat cheaper than the PHD option, for me anyway). Also, Amazon's price guarantee is nice to have. No cover art attached to it, but I don't really care about that anyway.

What? Varg recorded the debut, Aske, Det Som Engang Var, and Hvis Lysett Tar Oss all in the same year. He's being relatively slow post-prison.

Sorry. I was under the understanding that Burzum has released a new album for the last three years in a row?

Yes, that's true. What I was saying is that Varg isn't "churning out" albums like he used to. He's being slow, compared to the pre-prison period.

Okay, so your point is that his writing for the last three albums was largely completed during his prison sentence, and that the material in the last few years and to be on the new album have been rehearsed during his prison sentence? Just trying to understand, dude.

He is simply making a relative judgment of speed. Compared to other artists, it is true that Burzum is releasing albums at a nice pace. However, compared to the rate at which Varg did it before he went to prison, he's going slow! That is, his rate was MUCH FASTER pre-prison than post-prison, so his post-prison rate is MUCH SLOWER than his pre-prison rate, though both rates are PRETTY FAST compared to other musicians.
