Adrian Smith started A.S.A.P. as a side project during Iron Maiden's break in 1989. The record label saw potential in a solo project during "The Entire Population of Hackney" shows in 1985, and, with Maiden taking a year off, Adrian got it underway.

They were planning to use the name Adrian's Wall, but dropped it when they realized that Hadrian's Wall, which it was supposed to be a play on, ...
