Ragnarök (Old Icelandic for, either, ""The Fate of the Gods or "The Final Destiny of the Gods") is an eschatological event described in both the Poetic and the Prose Edda where most of the old Norse gods will perish in their fights against the Giants (Jötnar) before the re-appearance of a new, peaceful Earth. The main source for Ragnarök is the Völuspá poem of the Poetic Edda.
