The band's name is taken from the Dune novel, where Sadus is the Fremen (a group of people in the Dune universe) word for "judges". The title is used to refer to holy judges, equivalent to saints. It was suggested back in 1985 by the band's friend Rickey Lee Rogers because he liked how the word sounds and he could make it into a good logo.
