Named after the World War II German army general Erwin Rommel.
Among several other Japanese speed/thrash metal bands like Mein Kampf and Rosenfeld, Rommel had a Nazi-image. They used the imagery for shock value.
Hisashi Takai was called "Shu" in the period he played with Rommel.
