Node started out as a death/grind band, then gradually moved to a more death/thrash sound. Currently, the band plays melodic death metal with thrash tendencies.

Gary D'Eramo was the lead vocalist and guitarist until he left in 1997. When founder Steve Minelli left in 1999 he returned as guitarist, but his initial replacement Daniel Botti continued as the vocalist.
