The band was formed by Spleengoath when he met Kalrog Naar after some years from when they known each other. At the beginning they rehearsed under the name of Kalrog's former project, 'Dockalfar', but have changed the moniker into 'Nazgoat', which could be taken to mean 'Nazarene Goat'. They played black metal mainly inspired by Blasphemy/Beherit.
