The band got together to jam for the first time on November 1st, 1984. In the beginning, they played only covers of Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath, among others. In 1985, the band started to write their own material, with "Thrashaholic" being their first original song.
