Originally formed in Chelyabinsk, Russia, the band has relocated several times throughout its existence. They have at various times been based in Kyiv, Ukraine, Tallinn, Estonia, and most recently (as of 2023) Helsinki, Finland.
Kauan is Finnish for "for long" or "for a long time."
The band used Russian lyrics on some songs from Tietäjän laulu and Lumikuuro, while ...
