Allegedly, they initially existed as an unnamed band with a repertoire in the style of Dio/Iron Maiden. There are no records left from this period. In 1985 they adopted the name "Falanga", in the same year one of the guitarists was drafted into the army, and the band itself, under this name, went into a more extreme-type of thrash metal.
