Exitus was formed in 1989 by singer Santtu Laakso with friends after he was out of his previous band Oppression. The band rehearsed in Koivukylä, Vantaa and played a few gigs in Vantaa and Helsinki before splitting up in summer 1990.

In 1991 Santtu and Petri Sadinmäki AKA Sadisti started a space rock band called Dark Sun.
