The band's name seems to be taken off from a Hungarian witch named Anna Darvulia. She was known to be a servant of Elizabeth Bathory. Apparently, Darvulia was exactly like the classical forest witch that appears in children's tales: very old, irascible, and always surrounded by black cats.
