The group was among the first signings to the Music for Nations label, who released the band's debut album, Burn This Town.

At their peak, Battleaxe toured Britain, opening for Saxon.

A third album, Mean Machine, was recorded in 1987, but not released. Some songs surfaced on the "Nightmare Zone" EP in 2005.
