Altaria was formed in 2000 by former Blindside bandmates Marko Pukkila and Tony Smedjebacka. They were joined initially by vocalist Johan Mattjus and guitar player Jani Liimatainen of Sonata Arctica.

After the first demo CD "Sleeping Visions" was recorded there were some scheduling problems with Mattjus, so Jouni Nikula was called to help the band during two live shows. The gigs went well and ...
