The band started in 1989 as a Noise band called R.B.P. (Rotten Brain Pieces). In summer 1989 they changed their style towards Death Metal. Between 1989 and 1990 3 rehearsals were recorded (the first rehearsal was later included on the first (#invalid band link ID#) demo Braincancer) and then the name was changed to Excavation. Prior to the Gravemouth demo some more rehearsals were recorded.
