Alfheimr (Old Icelandic for "Home of the Elves") is, according to the Prose Edda, the residence of the light-elves. In the older Poetic Edda, it is said to be the residence of the Norse god Freyr. In later historical and pseudo-historical Sagas, the term is used to describe the southernmost border region between Norway and Sweden in the vicinity of the Göta-river.
