The band transliterates 五人一首 to Gonin-Ish, which is incorrect. It is translitrerated as Gonin-Isshu.

The name stems from 百人一首 (Hyakunin-Isshu), which is a Japanese classical anthology of 100 Japanese poems, made by 100 different poets.

Started off as an Anekdoten cover band.
