Lassila is best known for having founded Stratovarius along with John VihervÀ and Staffan StrÄhlman in 1984, when the band was known as Black Water; he has been the only remaining founder until 1995, when he left the band due to creative disagreements with Timo Tolkki. He later graduated at the Sibelius Academy as a drummer/percussionist and re-entered the metal scene.
