In 1980, he was approached by Iron Maiden to join the band as a replacement for Dennis Stratton. However, he turned down the offer because he wasn't interested and the position was eventually taken by Adrian Smith, who auditioned to join Def Leppard in 1991.

Phil is a fitness freak. He went vegetarian in the 80s, and vegan in 2011. In 2020, he published a "30 Day Fitness Challenge" on Def ...
