Biography
Jason Newsted was the founder and chief songwriter in Flotsam and Jetsam, when he was asked to join Metallica. Reportedly, his new band members subjected him to a long and sometimes humiliating induction procedure. During the mixing of "...And Justice for All", they asked the engineer to "take the bass down to where you can barely hear it, and then take it down another 2db". Additionally, ...Trivia
During the long live shows Metallica were known for, Jason would often handle vocal duties, mostly on the earlier material.Jason decided not to marry (until 2012) and have children, in order to keep his full attention on music.
He is also the founder of the Chophouse Records studio and label based in California.
In 2006, Jason played bass on the Tina Turner single "Teach Me Again".
